| Baldwinthemerciful11-13-07, 01:58 PM | Are there any DnD books that has a gladiator as a class? If so, which one(s). Also, I am looking to build a solid gladiator type character and I am looking for creative suggestions for the build (skills, feats and abilities). I think I would like him to be dwarf or perhaps a half-orc. Suitable for an 8th and above level game. Thanks ahead of time for your input and suggestions. |
| The_Wrath_of_Talos11-13-07, 02:44 PM | The sword and fist has a gladiator prestige class, so does champions of ruin, and one of the warcraft books cant remember which one off hand. Some tips: start out in warblade for weapon adaptability, or take some standard fighter lvls for bonus feats. Feats: improved trip, improved disarm, power attack, combat expertise, cleave, combat reflexes, basically all fighter feats. Skills: tumble. |
| Soulless_Enigma11-13-07, 04:49 PM | The WarCraft gladiator is in the World of WarCraft RPG corebook. Not really worth buying for PrC, tbh. |
| Redmantle11-13-07, 05:47 PM | Kingdoms of Kalamar has a gladiator class, but it's not all that great. The setting is kind of interesting though. Don't know whatever happened to it. |
| HCL11-13-07, 06:47 PM | warcraft phb has one as a prestige class, its meant to be used for warcraft orcs I beleive. |

When I went on a search on wizards, (after I did my orginal post), I found th Sword and Fist reference. Is that a 3.0 book? |
| backy_rat11-13-07, 08:05 PM | Check out Athas.org's gladiator. As usual a very nice class. |
| nrseer11-14-07, 06:00 PM | I would use barbarian and take berserk instead of rage (not by choice but at 8th level will activate at 40 HP, and no fatigue) and add some war blade class, if not then fighter or scout (skirmish is fun with a 40 foot movement). I know it sounds a little weird but I had some fun with it. However load up on improve trip, and improved disarm. |

Mongoose Publishing has a Power class called the Gladiator that covers several types. |
| Tema6911-14-07, 06:13 PM | Sword and Fist is a 3.0 ed paperback. |
| vorpo11-14-07, 06:55 PM | 2e's darksun campaign has gladiator class. I am guessing you can find a 3e or 3.5e version of it at darksun.org or something... |
| Baldwinthemerciful11-15-07, 12:22 PM | I did a search and located two past issues of Dragon that have gladiators in them. Issue #303 (appears dedicated to the gladiator) and #348. Thanks for eh suggestions. |
| MagusBlack11-15-07, 07:14 PM | Fighter is Go. If you can aim for a Dexterity and Intelligence of 13...not too hard for an orc. As a gladiator your fame usually lasts only as long as you live…so lets aim for survival shall we.:D Regardless of armor Combat Expertise helps you live longer when blades fly from scabbards, if you plan to make it a useful at higher levels take “Improved Combat Expertise” [Complete Warrior] at level 6 or so--which allows you to drop up to your full Base Attack Bonus into your Armor Class (max: +20 AC). Dodge is useful at the lower levels as every bit to your AC helps, and most gladiators fight one-on-one or in small teams (in which everyone has an opponent…usually…), plus it follows into Mobility which helps when you try to put some distance between you and your not-so-friendly friend. So you’ve taken these three feats…good here’s some nice feats to have in the arena. “Mighty Are Fallen” from Dragon Compendium is an awesome feat that makes people that love using Power Attack weary of you.:smirk: Likewise “Riposte” [another Dragon Compendium] when stacked with above makes counterattacking much easier without sacrificing too much defense. If you favor one-handed style without shields then at level 10 (if you live that long) then take “Single Blade Style” [DC again] to gain a +2 dodge bonus (+3 total when combined with Dodge) to your AC leaving one hand to rally the crowd…or flip the other guy off. Though you’ll need to take "Weapon Focus” first so…added on what you have. …Lets see…that would mean about…5 feats if you ignore the thought for level-10 part. …hmmm…Fighter has at 8th level 5 feats plus your 3 feats from level. :fight!: Use as you will…if you need any information on those feats then ask and I shall send them. |

| MagusBlack11-20-07, 02:03 PM | :tiphat: No problem, and good luck. |
| tenguroEd11-20-07, 03:27 PM | If you add Warblade to your character, I think iron heart would be the best discipline for a gladiator. |
| Bahumut11-21-07, 02:01 AM | Check out Athas.org's gladiator. As usual a very nice class. /agree great class, very well thought out and plays well. that one has my vote. |
