| anathavia02-13-07, 03:50 PM | I have some ideas for a new character, but I don't know wich class I should take. What I want to do with my character is the following: - Healing (this is the main activity of the char) - Be lucky (I'm going to use many luckfeats from Complete Scoundrell) - Chaotic Good - If possible I would like to have an Unicorn - I prefer a Charisma-based class This are the 2 main ideas for my character. For the healing it should be locical to take Cleric as class, but I don't like to play clerics cause I don't like to be so religious and I don't like turn and rebuke undead. Druid healer is also an option but I was hoping there is a class that totaly concentrates on healing but I haven't found it. Maybe someone has an idea for a class for my character. |
| ozinbritain02-13-07, 03:54 PM | One option is the Water Shugenja from Complete Divine, but it tends to be very, very underpowered. |
| mittenninja02-13-07, 03:56 PM | The healer from the minis handbook gets a unicorn companion and, as the name implies, does tons of healing. |
| Lt_Murgen02-13-07, 03:56 PM | You could try my war medic, listed in the Peach Orchard sticky at the top. You could go with a cleric, just worship the god of Luck. Take Luck as one sphere, and load up on healing spells. Make sure you use a human, as you get the extra feat at 1st level, and extra skill points. Remember, you are only as religious as your diety wants you to be. For a god of luck, I could see your religious requirements to be daily gambling. Spend some time and write up a decent, well thought out, well fleshed out explanation of your particular sects rites, observances, beliefs, etc. Combining healing and luck should not be too hard a stretch. |
| Pizzini300002-13-07, 03:57 PM | One option is the Water Shugenja from Complete Divine, but it tends to be very, very underpowered. true that. I kept thinking to myself that I should have made a cleric of healing and water domains |
| Khael02-13-07, 04:12 PM | Clerics do not have to be religious per se. You can choose for example to worship the ideal of healing not a specific god. Furthermore you can turn the uses of turn undead to other aims via divine feats which exchange uses of turn undead for other moves (such as the divine metamagic feat from complete divine, thoguh you may not get that as if abused this is a very minor part of CoDzilla's power). Few classes actually focus on healing since few people will ever want to use them (Its a known fact, admitted by the designers, that clerics were powered up to their current ability levels as a pay-off of sorts for taking the healer job, which most don't want.), however the best path I can point you in is this: druid or cleric choosing healing instead of a god/beloved of Valarian from BOEDs(much in the way of healing, a unicorn etc. but it will shoot your cleric/druid spells right out. But unless you want mass cure spells, at high levels you might think the effective doubled number of single targets cure a good pay-off.) Also BOEDs exhalted feats within may be right up the street of a peaceful PC who therefore doesn't lose out so badly. As for the CHA-based casting sorry, short of homebrew theres little. Although you could instead be a warlock/cleric(again of healing)/eldritch disiple from complete mage. The advantage there is you get cleric healing, and can pick up the healing blast, allowing you to use your eldritch blast to heal your allies. But you lose out on the unicorn that path. Unless you go Cleric/warlock/eldritch disciple1 (for the healing blast)/beloved of valarian. (Though I would expect most DMs to shoot this one down unless you explain it well to them since it uses two base classes and two PrCs. However it does fit all the criteria you listed) If for level 1, I still say cleric or druid though i'm afraid. |
| gullas02-13-07, 05:35 PM | just make a plane cleric of pelor , domains healing and strength ; then multiclass as a bard:D |
| danielinthewolvesden02-13-07, 05:50 PM | Healer from the Mini Handbook. Perfect. Your party will love you. :cloud9: :cheer: |
| starvinmarvin0702-13-07, 07:11 PM | Healer from Miniature's handbook has everything you want. It gets higher lvl healing spells earlier than cleric and at lvl 7 it gets a unicorn companion, which gets treated a lot like a pally mount. As special abilities they get Cleanse ________ (insert blindness, deafness, ability score loss, limb loss, if it needs healing the healer can do it). The one drawback, it's a wisdom based spellcaster. However, this can still work with the gambling lucky type. a) Just pump your cha in addition to wis and do what you feel like b) only pump your wisdom and play the smart, 'aware' gambler, who reads his opponent and plays off his weaknesses. In game terms, with a high wisdom your sense motive will be higher, thus making you a better gambler. |
| FrostWolf02-13-07, 07:40 PM | Take the feat called Augment Healing from Complete Divine. page79. Your healing spells will do an additional+2 per level of the spell. Also, the same book has the Favored Soul. A charisma based divine caster. I don't think it gets a unicorn, but you get wings instead. |
| Ventifax02-14-07, 12:37 AM | The Miniatures Handbook Healer is pretty much what you asked for. Seriously. At high levels, Wisdom is their key stat, but at low levels, it's Charisma, so take both. They have to be Good-aligned, so CG is great for them. At 8th level, they get a Celestial Unicorn companion. It's like it was made for you! (As in, oh, you're the one.) In fact, since I'm one of the healer fans around here (there may something about that in my sig), I opened this thread thinking it was about that class. And really, almost they do is cast cure & restoration spells, & lots of 'em. They also get some skills that can be useful in other ways (hint: if the party needs a ranger type, you can do that, too; take Track.) |
| Mister_Sinister02-14-07, 01:26 AM | I would recommend a CG build of cleric of Pelor/radiant servant of Pelor, with domain spontenaity set to the Healing domain. Augment Healing and Sacred Healing are musts, and Divine Ward helps. Dip 2 hierophant levels for divine reach, then retrain Divine Ward into something else. If allowed, Divine Metamagic cheese never hurts either. It does leave 2 conditions unfulfilled, but Cha is pretty important to you. As for a unicorn, is there a way to get one via planar ally, say by using a celestial one? I'm not sure on this count. If you want a build, PM me and I'll send you once I'm back with my books. Or I can post it here, your call. |
| zenlike02-14-07, 02:28 AM | I know it's not Cha based but the Archivist might be nice. Int based, 4 skill pts. Not great, but not bad. Throw in a few levels of Warblade and you're good to go. |
| ContinuityLapse02-14-07, 03:14 AM | Another good option would be the Favoured Soul from Complete Divine. It's lucky (has good saves), Charisma-based, a fine healer (spontaneous casting from the Cleric spell list), and perfectly suitable for a CG alignment. No unicorn, but you do get wings at 17th level. ;) |
