| Pheonixace_710-28-06, 01:34 PM | I'm new to the forums so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot, but I am making a weretiger ranger for a campaign. He is a natural weretiger so his LA is 3. What I am not entirely sure of is how being a weretiger will effect his BAB/Grapple, hitdice, feats, and skills. I read the template in the monster manual and was still just a little unclear, especially in regards to his BAB. Our DM is having us make 12th lvl characters and with the LA that would make him a 9th lvl ranger (i believe). He has a 12 in str which with the weretiger template is raised to an 18 in hybrid and animal forms. But i'm not sure what the BAB is. I am planning on keeping him in hybrid form most of the time (unless there is a restriction to this that i am not yet aware of such as time limits.) Thank you all in advance for all your help. |

So you would be a Weretiger6/Ranger3 with an LA of +3 making you ECL12. Animal HD give you Good Fort and Reflex saves, and 3/4 BAB. So you have a BAB of +4 from your Weretiger levels, and +5 Fort and Reflex save, +2 Will Save. Add on your 3 ranger levels, and you have BAB+7, Fort+8 Reflex+8 Will+3. Plus all abilities of a 3rd level ranger, 36+12*int skillpoints (2 sp per level for animal HD), and all Weretiger abilities. |
| BelRex10-28-06, 01:58 PM | Actually, It should be 6 animal HD, 3LA from being a natural lycanthrope, and 3 ranger levels. So you have only 3 levels of ranger to play with. You would use animal BaB for 6 levels and ranger bab for 3. Look at this for a quick refernece http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/lycanthrope.htm#weretiger and http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/tiger.htm . So your BaB would be +4(animal) and +3(ranger) for a total of +7/+2. Your saves should be +5/+5(and perhaps +5 for will, but ask your DM, if not it's +2) from animal and +3 /+3/+1 from ranger. You have 3 feats from your animal form, and 2 from ranger(I believe). Your skill points for animal form are 2+Intx6, and (6+Intx4) and 2 levels of 6+Int for ranger. Don't forget to look for bonus feats and additional stat modifiers. Depending on your way of generating stats, your str alone should be well over 20 in hybrid and animal form. As for being in hybrid form most of the time, think of yourself just like any other monster. Many people in towns may flee from you, and it may be a good idea to remain in human form unless you actually need your strength or stealth. I hope this helped some... |
| Pheonixace_710-28-06, 03:03 PM | Thanks for the input guys, this helps alot. Normally, it would seem like losing that many lvls wouldnt be worth it, but this campaign is going epic, so it should balance out after a while. Another question i thought of is could you use weapons in hybrid form? I think i read the answer to this somewhere, but i cant seem to find it again. And if not, is there a way to count your claws as light weapons instead of natural weapons? |
| Shiikeras10-28-06, 03:30 PM | I beleive that claws are light weapons, a bite is one-handed. |
| Pheonixace_710-28-06, 04:06 PM | Awesome, thanks. This has been a huge help. |
