| Zanchief02-25-08, 03:31 PM | I'm curious if there's an easy way of getting past Magic DR for PCs who have no weapons. Almost all monsters past a certain lvl have DR and it hardly seems balanced that those without weapons (like monks and characters in Wild Shape) will always take substantial minuses to their damage. Is there something I'm not seeing? |
| Legdiwena02-25-08, 03:36 PM | Get a wilding clasp for weapon to get the bonus in Wild Shape for purpose of DR, would that work? What DR can't your monk bypass? |
| Zanchief02-25-08, 04:56 PM | Well Magic DR. Do they naturally bypass? I suppose they could get magical weapons but then they'd be doing less dmg. |

| LSMFT02-25-08, 05:00 PM | At 4th level they bypass DR/magic At 10th, their unarmed strikes are lawful, and at 16th adamantine. |
| dman1123502-25-08, 05:04 PM | And then the Necklace of Natural Attacks*, and Amulet of Mighty Fists. *This is the best deal. |
| Zanchief02-25-08, 05:04 PM | At 4th level they bypass DR/magic At 10th, their unarmed strikes are lawful, and at 16th adamantine. Damn totally obvious answer too. I don't play a monk, I play a character with Wild Shape but I thought the answer might be the same. I know about Magic Fang (and GMF) but I was hoping there was something more permanent (like GMF with Permanency I guess). Is there such thing as a wilding clasp? I've never heard of this item. |
| dman1123502-25-08, 05:13 PM | Wilding Clasps are in the MiC I believe. Might have been somewhere else before and just reprinted there though. And yes, you can permanency GMF, but that is vulnerable to dispelling. |

| dman1123502-25-08, 05:39 PM | Check out my sig, it has the Dictionary of Terms. MiC is Magic Item Compendium. |
| Jay_Ibero_91102-25-08, 05:39 PM | Well by the time you are spending most of your time in wild shape an extended Greater Magic Fang should last you all day...Is it that big a deal using up a single 4th level spell slot for the bonus it gives? Or only 3rd level with a lesser extend rod... |

Or only 3rd level with a lesser extend rod... Well I'm a ranger with a variant from Unearthed Arcana that provides Wild Shape for medium and small creatures only. GMF is pretty much unreachable. I was thinking of hitting up a few levels of Natures Warrior from the Complete Warrior, but there's better if I was going the route and would rather not waste one of the class abilities on something that provides me very little else then the ability to bypass DR. I'll check out the Magic Item Compendium. |
| dman1123502-25-08, 05:50 PM | Master of Many Forms. And Warshaper. Hit MoMF as soon as you can, and then Warshaper after that. Your build: Ranger 5/MoMF 10/Warshaper 5. |

| Zanchief02-25-08, 05:56 PM | Ummm....how is a ranger qualifying for MoMF? I could actually the reqs are just ability to use Wild Shape, Alertness, and Endurance. I don't really want to cheese out on a build too much though. I just want an easy way to avoid DR~ |
| dman1123502-25-08, 06:07 PM | It's not cheezed out at all. It's optimized. There is no cheeze what so ever in that build. And the easiest way to escape DR for you would be a +1 transmuting Necklace of Natural Attacks. |
| Legdiwena02-26-08, 04:58 PM | How much is transmuting? |
| dman1123502-26-08, 05:15 PM | +2. It's in the MiC. |
