C.) Dwarven society is, in general, rigid and well-formed (Lawful). Barbarians are outside of society, beyond the borders of it (chaotic). So, there are as many dwarven barbarians as there are Hobgoblin paladins (some, but not many).

Frankly, I hate the alignment requirements for classes, and might houserule some of them off.

Theres nothing that says a barbarian cant have a higher officer or commander. Even barbarian tribes have chiefs and heirarchy's, and just because a dwarf likes to go into a frenzy when fighting orcs doesnt mean that he no longer respects the authority of his king.

The important thing is that barbarians will only follow a leader who they respect, either because he intimidates him or because he is strong, etc.

Barbarians can be neutral, you know. Neutral is the normal alignment that most people have.

Anyway, people in the army aren't necessarily lawful or even neutral. They behave in a generally disciplined way while a part of the rigid, structured setting of a chain of command, but think about how they act when on leave. They exhibit the full range of behaviors you'd expect from anyone. Soldiers can be chaotic, no problem.
