So i could cast HEAL as a Clr2. But how does this work w/ the Magic Domain? Does that domain add all the Wiz/sorc spells to my list, in the aspect that i can use wands of those spells? |
| Vlorich San'cheh10-26-03, 12:04 PM | .... additionally what is the check for using those wands? (i dont have the books) |
| Luminous Crayon10-26-03, 12:21 PM | There is no such thing as a wand of any level 9 spells. Wands can only contain spells of up to fourth level. Staves, however, do go higher. Other than that, though, you are correct. There is no check to activate a wand or staff; it just atuomatically happens. Scrolls are more complicated, and involve a check to avoid mishaps if you aren't high enough in caster level to cast the spell normally. The magic domain gives you the ability to cast arcane spells as if you were a wizard of caster level = (your cleric level /2), so at level 20, you'd still have to make these checks on all scrolls of 6th level and higher. The exact mechanics are in the DMG; I'd explain them to you, but I don't have the book on me. |

He can't use a wand unless he has a really high charisma and max ranks in Use Magic Device. |

Perhaps you are thinking about rods, which work in much the same way you describe. Without a Use Magic Device check, only characters who are already spellcasters can use wands. |
