Can an Artificer qualify for Mindbender? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-06-08, 12:22 PM I'm away from my books at the moment, and I don't know the Artificer Infusion mechanics very well yet.

Mindbender requires Spells / Spell-like Ability / Invocation: Charm (Person) and Arcane Caster Level 5th for spells or spell-like abilities.

Can anyone confirm whether or not an Artificer can meet these requirements?

I'm not sure if they have a charm-like infusion, but once they can fake the spell, the argument is there.

For the Charm part, MAAAYBE, that's an incredible stretch, but it's useless anyways. I'm not even sure where you'd start, really. The Item Creation ability specifically states that he can fake a spell in order to create a magic item, so I don't see how you'd even remotely justify using it to qualify for a PrC, and I can't see another ability that would let him do it.

But it really doesn't matter, since artificers don't have an arcane caster level, so they can't meet that requirement regardless of whether you can argue your way to the charm point or not. Artificers infusions are neither divine nor arcane, so they can't meet an arcane or diving caster level prerequisite. They can't even meet a flat caster level prerequisite because technically they're not even spellcasters.
