Why don't you post your attempt here? I'm sure the folks here can help you improve it.

I'd start with a Warlock, and tweek it more and more until it looked like a bender. ::puts it on over-large list of things to do::

I would like to point out that over in d20 design under anime is a very good design of the avatar classes (air, earth, fire, and water). I have used them a few times and they are really good.

I'd take a crack at it if I knew what Avatar: The Last Airbender was. If you post up some information on the concept, you'll probably get someone who can make it.

in the TV series there are like four tribes related with the four elements, each with it's own kind of martial art-like techniques that focus in controlling it's respective element. in the case of the avatar this is a special guy who is born in one of the four tribes and after mastering his own element he has to master the elements of the other three tribes (normally people can only learn to control their own element).

Hmmm... from what I can tell, the 4 disciplines would probably each have their own 20-level base class, and Avatar himself would have a 10 level PrC that advances the other 4 disciplines simultaneously.

Technically speaking the bender types actually made me think of shugenja. The obvious issue however being how to create Avatar...maybe void disciple?

Just offering somehting I know is there already, maybe hybridize the warlock and the shugenja and that might create a more affable combination.

Yeah, the entire thing has a Warlock-esque feel to it. I was thinking along the lines of Warlock/Monk, though.

I'm fairly certain there was at least one, if not several, bender classes floating around on these boards a few weeks or months ago. But being that I don't really watch the show, I didn't bookmark them for easy reference. Hopefully somebody else did, and can post the links for you.

i don't see the warlock thing in it. anyway I forgot to say that the avatar is also some kind of shaman as he can comunicate with spirits and visit their world like an astral projection.

The problem with that is that in DnD, classes tend to be limited by a strict number of usage. In Avatar, bending does not seem to exhaust them anymore than normal work(Unless of course they go all out, but that's another story.) I suppose, you might be able to give them a lot of special moves to use with bending, as many times as needed, but less powerful than spells. I agree that the 4 nations would need separate classes.

That is probibly where warlock comes in. What about warlock with different elemental damage (other than just vitriolic blast)? I haven't watched that show very much but that seems to be somewhat close (the last airbender guy would have just taken most of those feats). Also, I'm suprised that noone has mentioned the wujen class? If absolutely nothing else they have elemental affinities.

what i would do for this is basically have a fire bender or air or water or eath or what ever class then have a avatar prc

You need The Book of Nine Swords. Avatar is best handled through maneuvers 'cause they can do those things whenever; they never really run out.

Desert Wind covers fire bending and then some, but you'll need to write a whole mess of new maneuvers for air, water, and earth bending.

those desert wind manuevers make fire energy based attacks only or can make telekinesis-like things with the fire too? because I don't think we are speaking of energy elements exactly.
