| Pyriel08-17-04, 07:58 PM | i was looking in the MM2 and i saw the death knight concept, and since im gonna remake a character in an evil campaign i was thinking and got to wondering if i could apply it to a vampire. I didnt know if being a vampire made me unable to combine the two or what. Also, they didnt have a LA on it so i was wondering if there is one or i should just assume its a la 1. thanks in advance. |

If so, they're incompatible with vampires. They're one embodiment of powerful undead, vampires are another. Impossible for the same reason, say, a mummy zombie is impossible. Of course, you could figure something out with templates. IIRC, there's a half-vampire template. It might be possible to apply that to a death knight, to reflect that they were half-vampiric before the change. Or make a vampire who wears armor and uses a big sword, and has some levels in Spellsword, so can cast in armor as death knights (at least in 2nd edition in a limited way) can. |
| Egres08-17-04, 08:37 PM | Half-Vampire template?!? Where? |
| Masamune08-18-04, 07:20 AM | well, the death knight, i would say is about +4 la and the vamp is another +4 la, making a total +8 ECL so far. this doesn't even include the base creature's la. so unless you are playing in a ECL 10 or higher campaign, don't add the death knight template |
| kasthevampire08-18-04, 11:59 AM | i thought it was 5 for the death knight and 5 for the vamp for a total of 10 and since you have to be at least 6th to take death knight that is you need to be 16th level |
| MesaCraft08-18-04, 06:56 PM | Cant be done. You would have to be a Death Knight first and no way can a Death Knight be DRAINED by a Vamp to become a Vamp. Sorry guys, no go. |
| kasthevampire08-18-04, 07:05 PM | you are correct to become a death knight it says you must first be humanoid. although a vamp death knight would be cool you can't do it |
| MesaCraft08-18-04, 08:16 PM | Better and cooler then a Vamp Death Knight would be a Troll Vamp. Regenertaion AND Fast Healing? WAHOO. I actually put one on paper and he was down right MEAN...one problem though...Trolls are giants and to be affected with Vapirism you must be humanoid or monstrous humanoid. LOL, my players were very glad when they heard this cuz I had talked up the Dreaded Troll Vampyr for a while. |
| kasthevampire08-18-04, 08:41 PM | i think there is a template somewhere for monsterus vamps. that would be good though |
| Morka08-18-04, 08:49 PM | You just have to be a Vampire Blackguard. I was currently thinking about a paladin killed by a vampire, raising himself as a vampire. Naturally, he is now LE and no longer paladin. For some reason (perhaps to fight demons or other CE creatures), he swear allegiance to a LE god, and become a Blackguard. Quite terrific, no? The only problem is the vampire template is +8 ECL! |
| kasthevampire08-18-04, 09:11 PM | it is alot a bit too much in 3.0 it was only 5 which is ok. now this is what i don't get vamp +2 to cr death knight +3 to cr. vamp la 8 death knight only 5 |
