Just a newbie question.

Can I Take 10 on the Use Magic Device check for creating items with a Warlock with Imbue Item when I don't have the required spells?

Does Deceive Item apply to this Use Magic Device check or just when using items not making them?

Thanks for any replies.

I see no reason why not.

I see no reason why not.

...other than the PHB specifically stating a character cannot Take 10 with UMD. I believe there are higher level class features of the Warlock and Artificer that allow this.

In addition, Deceive Item should really only apply to the use and not production of an item, similar to the Artificer.

Deceive Item says you can take 10 on use magic device checks, but it doesn't specifically say only when using them.

On the other hand it doesn't specifically say that you can use it when creating an item.

It could really be ruled either way.

It could, although one interpretation makes it ridiculously easy to craft items. Play whatever makes you comfortable. For what it is worth, the FAQ implies agreement with the above, in a general way.
