Can my 5th level half-orc druid have a mountain lion animal companion? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-07-05, 01:02 PM It says in the PHB that my 5th level druid can have a leopard as a animal companion (with a level penalty of -3), but my druid doesn't live by any leopards, except maybe snow leopards. He lives in the North in the Forgotten Realms Setting, but he worships Nobanion the lion god (he read about him in a book while he was studying to be a druid), so I would like some kind of large feline as an animal companion. When I looked up leopard, it said you could use the same stats for mountain lions, so back to my original question: Can my druid have a mountain lion animal companion (with a -3 level penalty)?

02-07-05, 01:06 PM If it's the same stats then there's no reason why he couldn't. The list of companions is simply a list of examples.

02-07-05, 01:07 PM I don't see why not. Mountain Lions are close enough to Leopards, I'd just say use the same stats, and change the name, and you're good to go.
