| mysstra02-06-08, 01:05 PM | Hello guys! Let me tell you my situation... I have a Sune cleric, and I want to know about the Rainbow Servants... Can somebody tell me what are they about, what do thay do? coz I couldn't find nothing about them anywhere? Are they Wizards? Clerics? Please! help me out, coz it's impossible for me to download The Divine.. Thank u so much! |

Wizards have to find scrolls and learn them as normal, sorcerers have to choose them as spells known, warmages (or other classes with complete spell list access) gain acces to them immediately (your DM may house rule this otherwise). |

Pretty nifty. Granted, the 4 lost caster levels hurt. However, in epic play they could get all the spell levels back. Consider for example a Warmage 10/Rainbow Servant 10 with Practiced Spellcaster. Casts spells as a 16th lvl Warmage with a caster level of 20. Taking 4 more levels of Warmage would give those last 4 spellcasting levels, such that a Warmage 14/Rainbow Servant 10 would cast spells as a 20th lvl Warmage with a caster level of 24, essentially the same as a Warmage 24 except with full spontaneous cleric casting. Wow. |
| mysstra02-06-08, 02:58 PM | Thank u And let me ask u guys... What are their duties? How they become a rainbow servant? My character is a drow, does it matters? Sorry if I bother u... I cannot find nothing about them :3 |

I cannot find nothing about them :3 As DeathlessJuan pointed out, information can be found on them in the book Complete Divine. Failing your ability to acquire a copy to look at, the short of it is an arcane caster who makes friends with one or more couatls and his or her casting becomes influenced by the divine spark of said couatls. It's left somewhat open ended and, like most prcs, can be adapted to the campaign with minimal tweaking. It also requires a non-evil, non-chaotic alignment... so race is no barrier unless your drow is evil or chaotic. And since text trump tables, it's a full casting class dispite the table listings. |
| DeathlessJuan02-06-08, 03:43 PM | And since text trump tables, it's a full casting class dispite the table listings. This is true. The text under spellcasting states the Rainbow servant as having 10/10 spellcasting, rather than the 6/10 on the table. This makes the Rainbow servant an ideal prestige for the Warmage/Beguiler/Dread Necromancer/etc (any spontaneous caster with full spell list access). |
| PurinaDragonChow02-06-08, 05:06 PM | This may be way off base, but have you looked at the Heartwarden PrC from Faiths and Pantheons? It's specifically for Sunites. IIRC, Rainbow Servant is deisgned for lawful good characters, and involves couatl - fluffwise, it has nothing to do with Sune. But I don't have the books with me, so I could be wrong about that. |
| mysstra02-06-08, 05:54 PM | I read about the hearwarden! And I really like it! thank u so much! Do u have the requirements in order to be one? you know... what do I have to complete... And do u have the skills and the spells? |

I'd probably rule against that since the Warmage don't have an actual spells known(technically), but after reading over that description a little bit more, I'd sadly actually have to agree with it. That prestige class is quite vicious... |

Rainbow Servant requirements (off the top of my head): Alignment: non-evil, non-chaotic. Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 8, knowledge (religion) 5, something else, but fairly easy to qualify for ... Casting: Must be able to cast 3rd level arcane spells. special: must find the Couatle temple and join their ranks. Rainbow Servants is not for clerics, but there's some pretty good suggestions around (I think) as to what you can get. |
| mysstra02-06-08, 07:41 PM | Yes! I really like the Heartwardens! Can you please tell me what I require in order to be one of them please??? And I'd really like to have the spells so I can check them out! ^^ I'll be more than thankful! |
| The_Shaman02-06-08, 09:34 PM | Well, you should be able to get there after lvl 6 if you started as a human. By the way, what is your character right now? As in race, class levels, feats etc? |
| teshen02-07-08, 02:17 AM | I'd probably rule against that since the Warmage don't have an actual spells known(technically), but after reading over that description a little bit more, I'd sadly actually have to agree with it. That prestige class is quite vicious... Well, being able to cast third level spells typically makes it level 6 before you qualify with sorcererous types, which means it will be level 16 before you have the cleric list + your limited arcane list. Even given that, you'll be behind on other fronts compaired to a 1-16 divine caster such as hit points, base attack, fortitude saves, armor and other features so I don't feel it's necessarily vicious but just a good investment for a higher level arcane caster... and if your dm sticks to the table over the text, losing four caster levels on a sorcererous spell progression is painful... Wait, I'm getting a sense of deja vu... :shifty: |
