Can Soulknife/soulbow use Oils on his weapon? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-11-06, 04:31 AM As the topic - we have a argument with a friend. He says that he can use oils on his mind-weapons. I say that this is stupid as his weapons are projections of mind and more or less immaterial. Are there any rules about that?

[EDIT] Argh... this should be in prestige classes subforum, sorry...

Thats tantamount to putting an Oil on a wizard's fireball.

I would be happy to allow it, since you're creating a physical weapon. However, the effect would only last while the weapon did, so if you have to remanifest, the next version won't have those effects. I haven't read the soulbow in any detail, but I think that this would mean that only the first shot would get the benefits, but it wouldn't be so bad for a soulknife.

As far as putting things on a wizard's fireball goes, well, if I've got a bag full of rods of metamagic, what's the difference?

It wouldn't be overpowered, in fact it would probably be an inefficient use of resources, but hey, your choice.

there have been several debate on these boards considering the weight of a mind blade
off-topic? not so much, coz' if a mind blade was weightless and inconsistant, then you would not be allowed to apply oil on it (simply waste oil on the ground) but then, you cannot strike with it either... my opinion

the soul bow is another matter altogether coz' as i recall it, it materialise its "arrow" the moment just befot shooting, so he does not have the time to aplly oil on it

08-11-06, 09:28 AM There's no reason you shouldn't be able to use magic oils on a mind blade, but a Soulbow doesn't really have a weapon to use them on; he just shoots mind arrows out of his hands.
