Since I think it is not logical that if in melee, I can steal spell though a melee hit. And the "melee hit" is a "media" that absorb enemy spell by a "contact".

But for missile, how can I get this "contact"? My daggar is already leave my hand and hit the enemy. What "media" that I absorb enemy spell? Since Steal Spell Feature is not really casting a spell that can use ranged touch or ray.

Or I think too much in real world? Just think D&D world is mystric that many thing is unreasonable and cannot be describe?
When I flied my daggar and hit the enemy, there is a "invisible ray-kind media" that absorb the enemy spell from enemy to me?!

D&D magic and magical abilities do not have to travel through a medium - they are magic, after all. As long as you get Sneak Attack dice on a given attack, whether melee or ranged, you can use Steal Spell.
