i'm playing a halforc barbarian, sept instead of the barbarian's HD and skills i'm taking the HD and skills of a ranger. he is going to be quick, desicive, and combat savy with some problems dealing with out of combat skills.

lets say all my scores are 14 (i dont get to role them till this weekand)

so my base scores would be
Str:16/3
Dex:14/2
Con:14/2
Int:12/1
Wis:14/2
Cha:12/1

i'm going to take these traits listed in unearthed arcana
Abrasive for +1 intimidate -1 deplomacy
Aggressive for +2 to initiative -1 Ac
Farsighted for +1 spot -2 Search
Honest for +1 diplomacy -1 Bluff (i like this feature for its RPing affects)
Quick for +10 to base movment speed (so totaling up to 50 now) -1 hp each lvl

"orcish asspects with near incapabliity to lie and FAST, WOOH"

i'm also taking these Flaws
Shaky for -2 to ranged (i'm going to be all melee)
Murky-eyed for a seconed miss roll chance

with that my feats (3 now one for lvl 1, 2 for flaws)
Alertness, Dodge, and Improved initiative

so at lvl one i'll have
HP:11 (1d10 +2 -1)
initiative:8 (2dex, 2 aggressive, 4 improved initiative

Fort: 4
ref: 2
will: 2
melee:4 (1bab, 3 str)
ranged:1 (1bab, 2 dex, -2 shaky)

AC:15 (10+4chainshirt+2dex-1aggressive)
key skills:
spot:9 (4ranks+2wis+2 Alertness+1 farsghited)
listen:8 (4ranks+2wis+2Alertness)
hide:6 (4ranks +2dex)
movesilently:6 (4ranks+2dex)

so my plan is to spot/hear my enamy before they spot/hear me, i can move 50ft. and attack in the suprise round plus since the books say that if you win initiative you still get to attack with your opponeats flatfooted. (thats what the high initiative is for) or if i must i can charge for 100ft. and if i win initiative the next round starts without the penaltys of the charge i can recover fast

so in a sence i'm makeing a ambusher lol.

so tell me what you guys think?

A rangers HD is a d8, also get rid of murky-eyed for smething else, that kind of thing can get you killed fast, quick, and in a hurry.

- If you take the HD of a ranger then you have 9HP (1d8 +2 -1).

- Check with your DM if you can take that many traits and flaws.

- If you want to play an ambusher, why not play a rogue or a scout ? You would benefit from your combat style, as described, with sneak attacks and/or skirmish.

- Friendly advice : Try to spellcheck your message before posting. Many people will not even bother responding if the spelling is bad, or they will just do it to flame you...

Your DM is letting you take the skills of a ranger by downgrading your hit die? . I've never heard of that before. Incidently, ranger is d8, not d10. but you may want to just be a ranger. you won't be able to use move silently or hide while you are raging anyway. and you still can multiclass to barbarian on your even levels. the two have a lot of skill overlap so they multiclass well.

Also how did you get all 14s? If it is point boy then I would drop your charisma 6 points to raise your con to 15 and your str to 18.

I am not a fan of Alertness, or any skill-boost feet (cept maybe a UMD build). Go for power attack instead. since you will be ambushing a lot, they will lose dex so you will usually be hitting. Dodge is only good if you want to go for spring attack (which isn't great). If you aren't going that way, cleave is very good at low levels. Improved initiative is okay, but not great. I would keep it though since you seem to be going for that direction. concider lucky start (complete scoundrel) as a replacement or adition though. alternitively if you are going for the spring attack build, just take dodge/mibility/spring attack right off the bat.

Chain shirt gives you -2 on all dex based skills (move and hide included.) its fine early on but i would try to save up for masterwork studded leather instead.
