| Rhomphaia11-12-05, 08:01 AM | I know a lot of PrCs did not make the 3.5 cut, and there is one I am really hoping somehow did. The Ghostwalker. The class originally appeared in Sword and Fist. Though full of typos, (mainly all of the obviously spell-like or supernatural abilities being listed as extraordinary) I loved the class. I haven't yet been able to find it yet anywhere in 3.5 material and I would really like to know if this PrC got the update or the boot. |
| BadCatMan11-12-05, 08:37 AM | Ghostwalker hasn't been updated, so the 3.0 Sword & Fist is the one and only version. A home-made Ghostwalker update appeared on these boards a few months ago. You could try searching for it, but be careful - there are a bunch of other homebrew PrCs also called Ghostwalker. It seems to be a popular name. AFAIK, 3.0 material that hasn't been updated to 3.5 (and isn't obviously superceded or made obsolete by other 3.5 material) is still perfectly valid and legal for a 3.5 game. Of course, some skills have to be changed, and some indirect effects work differently under the new rules, but, by-and-large, the class remains the same. For example: Intuit Direction should become Survival, I think. I want to play a Ghostwalker some day - the ability to fake one's own death could come in handy. Low on HPs? Fake death, monster moves on. :) |

Also, I believe both Intuit Direction AND Wilderness Lore have been wrapped up into Survival. I think a good house rule on conversion of these particular ranks from 3.0 to 3.5, if you're directly converting a character, is to add your character's Wilderness Lore ranks to half of its Intuit Direction ranks, and that's your new Survival rank. Up to the limit of 3 + class levels, of course. |
| FriendlyBiscuit11-12-05, 09:46 AM | I've never seen this ghostwalker, but if it's a sneaky character, you may like Ninja from Complete Adventurer (though I personally hate the class :)). Or, if it's a movement-based type, there's the Horizon Walker in the DMG, or better yet the Wayfarer Guide in CA. These probably aren't what you're looking for though. :tissue: |
| Rhomphaia11-13-05, 08:43 AM | Thanks for the imput, and I knew that by and large, 3.0 material that has not been updated is still legal. I just wanted to know if the Ghostwalker got the update or not. Oh, Bisciut, the Ghostwalker is a Prc from the old Sword and Fist book. It is a fighting class that gains some interesting abilities that verge on stealth, but don't quite cross the line. Try and find a copy of the book, there are some neat PrCs in there. A couple of them (Ghostwalker, Fist of Hextor) haven't been updated in 3.5 but are still really nice classes. Also, the book is worth picking up for the good advice on how to play a fighting character. |
| Phantom Lord11-13-05, 09:17 AM | I believe you are looking for this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=347888) thread. It's homebrew, but it's as good as you'll get. |
