Is there anyway to gain the trapfinding ability without taking levels in the following classes?

- Rogue
- Ninja
- Scout
- Spelltheif
- Beguiler

- Chameleon (its an option at least)

Yes, but I don't think it's worth the cost. From Magic of Incarnum, there is a soulmeld that grants Trapfinding when bound to your hand chakra. So Effectively you could take Shape Soulmeld <Theft Gloves> (CN 13 req) and Open Least Chakra <Hand> (CN 13, 6th lvl reqs).

Ugh... that blows, a level in rogue would more worthwhile.

I was thinking something more like a feat, or a spell/power that does it.

And does the Open Least Chakra acctually grant you the ability to bind the soulmeld? Or just opens that as an option, if you can bind already?

Artificers get it I think... if you are playing in Eberron.

Oh, yeah. But sadly we arent. My DM would probably allow it, but we arent using Action Points, and my infusions would suffer for that. The Rapid Infusion feat helps, but thats once per day, not nearly enough on its own.

Leadership

Get a Rogue cohort
We use a House Rule that changes Leadership so you can only gain a NPC class cohort.

Yes, Least Ckakra lets you the chakra binding ability. The Chackra Bind feat tree is designed for the use of non-Incarnum characters.

You need to look no further than this very website. The Races of the Dragon Web Enhancement #2 Kobolds: Playing to Their Strengths (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a) has the Kobold Domain that gives a Cleric the Trapfiniding ability, it also adds Search and Disable Device to the list of Cleric's class skills.

Grr.. we already have a cleric. But that'll be good for future games.

Szatany's suggestion only uses 2 feats... it's not much worse than the single feat you had originally wanted.

Or my favourite way of getting Trapfinding - Take 4 levels of the UA variant Rogue with Fighter bonus feats. It's like getting all the bonuses of 4 Fighter levels, except with Trapfinding, Evasion, and Uncanny Dodge thrown in.

Thats true, I dont know why but it looked like 3-4 feats, not two.

Psychic Rigue in Mind's Eye a Web article by WOTC. Basically, it is like a riogue but loses a little sa damage in exchange gains pp and powers.

Yeah, that class always struck me as the precursor to the Lurk, which is a much better class. It'd be better if it had trapfinding, but the Psionic Rogue just seems too forced for my tastes.

Hmm... I wonder if I could do the same thing with Scout....
