| Grimgrin04-16-07, 08:54 PM | I am looking for some good ideas about how to create a spellcasting class that utilizes classic playing cards and/or poker. Which one sounds interesting or unique? I have three general ideas: 1. Modified Saving Throw The spells cast by this mage class use playing cards instead of a d20 saving throw. Spellcaster picks one card and adds ten to the value of the card to generate the spell's DC value. Target of spell picks one card and adds her saving throw bonus (ie Will, Reflex, or Fort Bonus). 2. Modified Warlock Class "Warlock" abilities linked to certain cards. Card Sharp must draw a card before firing a eldritch blast. A heart indicates a "fire" blast; Diamond="cold"; Spade="acid'; Club="lightning'. Face cards grant special modifiers to blast (not sure what, but similar to warlock). 3. Modified Bard or Sorcerer Generate entire new library of spells (based on poker terms, card games, and puns) Examples: Top Card, Hidden Card, Suit of Cards, Fan of Cards, Cut the Deck, Hole Card, Throwing Cards, Trump, Ace, Bottom Dealer, Dead Man's Hand, Suicide King, Old Maid, One-eyed Jack, Joker, Full House, Acey-Ducey, House of Cards, etc. What do you think? |
