Whisper_Swiftblade 01-10-07, 06:45 PM	So I am thinking of playing a Rage Mage from compleat warror, I want him to be fairly powerful in battle and am no shure what spell casting class to use, I know I will have 1 level of barbarian, and at least one for rage mage, but I still can't deside what the spell caster class should be. I am pretty shure I will play a gnome so wizard seemed like the first pick, but then I thought that a beguiler would be pretty dang cool too. Afterword I desided that the Beguiler would be an interesting but poor pick, that got me back to thinking about what to choose which lead me to hexblade, which lets me be an up front combatant, however because I don't realy like the Hexblade spell list I thought maybe not. Thinking about the hexblade then led me to think of other classes that can use armor and cast, namely: the war mage and the dusk blade. war mage seemed like an interesting option, but not realy what I was going for, and while the buffing power of the dusk blade is nice I am not 100% in love with the fluff. as you can see I am haveing a hard time desideing about this, so if you would like to add your thoughts and/or suggestions please feel free to do so.
The_Shaman 01-10-07, 06:54 PM	Sorcerer is always the easiest class to tie, roleplay-wise, with a gish build: you can always have a magical power awaken in you, on its own or because of a side effect of something else. A barbarian with a newly awakened gift for magic might try to incorporate it into his typical reckless fighting style. Are you going all the way with rage mage or are you going to include other PrCs? Dragon Disciple, Abjurant champion and even Spellsword (a few levels) would all be interesting touches.
Disciple_of_Juiblex 01-10-07, 07:12 PM	I dont have the book, and i havent seen it for awhile so im sorry if some information i suggest insent aplicable to the class. As a race i might sugest the Sharakim. they have an LA: +1, but they a + to strength, Int, favored class wizard, Small Natural armor bonus and some other things. they are found in races of destiny. As for class (which the Sharakim shouldent be given) might be the dread necromaster (in heroes of horror), concidering at second level it grants DR and has a slightly larger hit die, and can cast spells in light armor without penelty (i dont remember if the rage can cut the arcane spell chance or not). pluse whats not to love about a guy who raises the dead and carried a greatsword :D

The_Shaman 01-10-07, 07:23 PM	As a race, how about goliath? It makes for great barbarians, and with a little magic they can become a veritable juggernaut. Imagine having one with enlarge in battle, and a sizing weapon. Heh.
