I have a character in my campaign right now who doesn't knwo what his caster level is. He has two levels of fighter, one of bard, and two of dragon disciple. I'm not sure whether the bonus spells of dragon disciple count towards his caster level or not.

They do not. Refer, for example, to the Archmage PrC to see how it is phrased when levels of a PrC add to caster level. DD doesn't say it increases your caster level, therefore it doesn't.

The character in question has a caster level of 1.

The character continues his spell progression as if he were a bard of 2nd level or higher, but all level dependent abilities i.e. damage dice, caster level checks, range etc. aren't affected by his spell progression from taking the dragon disciple PrC. Hope this helped

No. Dragon Disciple does not advance spell progression. It simply gives seven extra spell slots over the course of its run. The Bard is still a CL 1, and has the spells known of such. He can just cast those spells a couple more times a day.

ok, thanks for helping me with that. But here's another one. My paladin is currently level 4, so he's got his first spell, but is his caster level 4 or 1?
