I'm not sure this is even in the place buthere it goes. I was reading under the whole Lich thing and how to use the template it states something about being having level 11 caster level. Does that mean any class with magical abilties like Warlock or Spellthief....etc could become a Lich at level 11 and beyond correct?

It usually mentions caster level under the spells entry.

i.e. a ranger has no caster level at level 1-4 and after that his caster level is 1/2 his ranger level.

For the two examples you mentioned...a Warlock has no caster level and the spellthief's is half his spellthief level, so he'd have to be a level 10 spellthief to be eligable for the Lich-template(Need the Craft Wondrous Item feat.)

A warlock does have a caster level. The Complete Arcane says this explicitly, and further states that they fulfill the prerequisites for any PrC that has a caster level as a prerequisite. I would assume they are also capable of becoming liches.

That's wrong, the Warlock DOES have a caster level, and it's equal to the class level (see page 72 Complete Arcane), thus an 11th level Warlock could aquire the Lich template.

As for the Spell Thief, he could pick it up at 22nd level, as he will then have a caster level of 11.

You would have to find a way to allow the warlock to actually cast spells before he can become a lich though. I recall there is a regional feat that allows one to cast cantrips. This should solve the problem nicely.

With the practiced spellcaster feat, the spellthief could gain the lich template at 14th level. :D And the warlock only has to be 11th level. A warlock lich is awesome. I seriously recommend it as a villain or even a PC. So sweet :weep:

Thanks all who posted and help clear that up. My idea was to make a BBEG with levels of either Spellthief/Warlock or for a decent amount of casting and flavor Sorc/Warlock/Spellthief total level 18 or higher and have mummy lords zombies and such as his underlings.
