| Cervante02-11-08, 03:24 PM | Hello everyone, I had a question. Does the caster variant swordsage get spells per day, or spells per encounter as if they were manuevers. |
| Mr_Teapot02-11-08, 03:57 PM | No one knows. Seriously. The caster variant is even more vague than the unarmed strike adaptation. Both are more suggestions for houserules than they are actual rules. My reading of it makes me think that it is per encounter. But the only way I could see this being remotely balanced is if almost every spell you learned with a greater than one round duration counted as a stance. |
| Cervante02-11-08, 04:02 PM | Well, that somewhat matches the opinion I had, but this means you go all out with your strongest spells every fight and no one else needs to do much of anything. |
| LoneFlame02-11-08, 08:33 PM | Per encounter, just like maneuvers. For the sake of sanity, run them as with no AO provoking, no spell failure, and spell resistance applying only if it normally would with the spell. That's how we run it. We also let Swordsage still pick up maneuvers, but I would suggest limiting it to smaller list(ie, 2 or 3 of the normal 6 schools a regular Swordsage could pick from), to work tone it down(although, in practice, access to the 6 styles plus spells never was much of a problem, since you had so many options, it was hard to not spread yourself too thin one way or the other). |
