| Kaladur01-16-06, 04:27 PM | Can you cast two or more spells in a round useing the quicken metamagic feat? |
| Linklegacy7701-16-06, 04:56 PM | The quicken metamagic feat allows you to cast a spell as a swift action instead of as a standard action, so yes you can cast two in one round. You cannot cast more than two, unless you are epic and take the Multispell feat. (at least I think that's it). You can only have one swift action a round. The Player's Handbook doesn't mention swift and immediate actions, but most other books do. |
| Encard01-16-06, 06:07 PM | To be precise, casting a Quickened spell is not a swift action - it's a free action you can only do once per round. Thus, you can still perform a swift action that round. It is indeed possible to cast a regular and a Quickened spell in the same round, however. |
| Blaque01-16-06, 06:14 PM | Swift Actions A swift action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort and energy than a free action. You can perform one swift action per turn without affecting your ability to perform other actions. In that regard, a swift action is like a free action. However, you can perform only a single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take. You can take a swift action any time you would normally be allowed to take a free action. Swift actions usually involve spellcasting or the activation of magic items; many characters (especially those who don't cast spells) never have an opportunity to take a swift action. Casting a quickened spell is a swift action. In addition, casting any spell with a casting time of 1 swift action is a swift action. Casting a spell with a casting time of 1 swift action does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Quickened spells are swift actions, its just that they hadn't ben invented when they 3.5 PHB was being written. Every reference to swifts mentions them. Though, there is a neat spell in the Spell Compendium called Spell Matrix, which allows you to cahin two spells of level 2 or lower to be cast as one swift action. Greater Spell Matrix does the same with three spells. This and a standard action spell will get the job done, I think And stuff. |
| Encard01-16-06, 06:32 PM | Ah, hadn't noticed that line before - I stand corrected. |
| Rulebook01-16-06, 06:42 PM | all the Syumbul's Spell Matrix/Sequencer type spells from FR are wild too. |
| skibumpyro01-16-06, 08:12 PM | to get three of use the multi-voice feat in savage species with a two headed (insert name of favourit race) and the quicken spell feat |
| Tempest Stormwind01-17-06, 01:37 AM | Rulebook, Spell Matrix was moved to the Spell Compendium, along with several other FR spells. However, many of those were beefed up something horrible, as if mages needed MORE ways to rape the game in the face. Hmm.... I see people have upped the ante. From 1 spell a round to 2, and now to 3. Can I play? The current record for this is 643 spells and 30 psionic powers in one round. It could go higher, but he runs out of resources before he hits that point. The thread you want is this one (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6593518), although it does make use of several sources (the 643 one is linked in the header of that thread). |
| Seeker of Undeath01-17-06, 01:58 AM | As good to see your posts as always, Tempest. I have to say, though, there should be a law against jumping over from the CO boards just to frighten the townsfolk. |
| Radijs01-17-06, 02:10 AM | Its not frightening the townsfolk. Its called the lure of the dark side. |
