Yeah, but it's not a cat, it's a catfolk. You're mixing it with our poor eyesight, so it gets watered down a bit. Not to mentino the race is already pretty good for a LA+1. Low-light vision, major Dex boost, Cha boost, 40 foot land speed, and Natural Armor. Love the paragon, though. |
| enygmatic_me03-07-07, 10:18 PM | Thank you both for the comments. I was a little surprised to see the thread pop back up after nearly three months. Very happy to finally get some feedback. |
| Nat_2003-07-07, 10:26 PM | LOL I saw it on your sig and had to put in my two cents, but yeah i like the darkvision idea, you? |
| enygmatic_me03-07-07, 11:20 PM | LOL I saw it on your sig and had to put in my two cents, but yeah i like the darkvision idea, you? Not really sure what what I think about Darkvision. The ability to see 120' with only a torch is not bad considering what most other races can do. |
| Lotus Crane03-08-07, 01:50 AM | I like it, but for sacrificing a level, you should improve to adding 60' darkvision. i have cats and i swear they can see in the dark. Cats (and really, any real-world animals) can not see in absolute darkness, which is what the purely fantastical darkvision allows. Cats and other animals with acute nightvision comparable to D&D low-light vision, can simply make better use of ultra-minimal light conditions than humans can, such as starlight. Even in very (but not absolutely) dark conditions, we humans tend to at least see a blurry contrasts of dark greys against darker greys, especially if there's significant movement; cats are just that much better at it. Also, your cat has a much better sense of hearing and smell than you do; even without actually being able to see you, it could probably move around to avoid you in absolute darkness simply by virtue of hearing or smelling you when you're about to stumble across it. So no, I don't belive the catfolk paragon should gain darkvision. However OP, you may want to change the low-light vision improvement from triple human to quadruple human, as per the already-published Superior Low-Light Vision ability that elf paragons (and a few PrC's) gain. |
| ninjarabbit03-08-07, 10:07 AM | I would give the catfolk paragon full BAB since it doesn't advance any spell casting and to make it more ranger-like since ranger is the catfolk's favored class. |
| Nat_2003-08-07, 02:27 PM | Good point, the darkvision does seem to good, you should let one or two of these lvls stack for ranger abilities, like the drow and there wiz/clr bonus |
| enygmatic_me03-09-07, 02:20 AM | BAB was changed to Full. Low-light was increased to 4 times human. Added a new class feature that allows Paragon levels to stack with Ranger and Druid levels for level based class features. Insights and opinions? |
| Norr11-05-07, 10:55 AM | Would 'level based class features' include spellcasting? If so, it'd be a bit over the top. If not, it's fine the way it is. |

Added a new class feature that allows Paragon levels to stack with Ranger and Druid levels for level based class features. Insights and opinions? I'd add that the paragon levels stack with scout instead of druid. I mean, if it'd advance druid's spellcasting too, it would be a must-have for them. What about Evasion (instead of Natural Armor) at second level or maybe the ability to lessen any falling damage? I just don't think fur offers THAT much protection... |
| Dionon11-05-07, 01:01 PM | I like it, it seems just right compared to the other Paragon classs. |
