| Tarquin09-13-05, 02:15 PM | Ok.. maybe I am over analyzing this, but I need concise clarification!! I have a player whose fighter character is switching into the cavalier prestige class. Originally he was a cavalier by 1st Ed/Unearthed Arcana Rules. We pushed him into the fighter class for the feats until he could meet the requirements for being a cavalier. Upon reading the cavalier class features, an ambiguity in my and the player's mind has occurred. It involves the following entry: "Special Mount (Sp): A cavalier's class levels stack with any paladin levels the character may have for determining the characteristics of a paladin's mount." Since being a paladin is not a requirement for becoming a cavalier, am I correct in reading that this notation is for paladins moving into the cavalier prestige class only? Or does the cavalier prestige class gain the ability to call for a special mount as per the paladin class? |
| LostTemplar09-13-05, 02:28 PM | It does what is says. If you have a Paladin Mount, then all Cavalier levels stack with the Paladin Levels to determine the Mount's abilities. It doesn't refer to the class granting a Paladin Mount, or requiring one. Although I must confess, I would prefer it if the class granted a magical mount. It wouldn't be too far-fetched. |
