It would make a good case, but by the letter of the rule, no, it does not. |
| Vestigial_Thumb10-19-05, 02:49 PM | It would make a good case, but by the letter of the rule, no, it does not. I think this is a case of CSA - "Common Sense Applicable." As opposed to heavy armor optimization, which relies on your habit of wearing wear heavy armor, this gives you the ability to move more gracefully with encumbrance. I rule that it also applies to light armor. |
| AbyssKnight10-19-05, 03:37 PM | It would make a good case, but by the letter of the rule, no, it does not. Of course it applies. It says it applies while wearing medium or heavy armor "including mithril versions!" Thus, since Chainmail is medium the ability applies. The ability specifically allows for you to wear the mithril version and retain the ability despite the fact that it is technically light. |
| Vengeblade10-20-05, 06:59 AM | But mithral chainmail is light armor, it's even written in the Races of the wild equipment section as light armor. So it should count as light, not medium. |
| Phantom Lord10-20-05, 07:11 AM | If the 'and the mithral versions' statement was only going to apply to heavy armor (making it medium) then it would most likely say 'and the mithral versions of heavy armor.' As it stands, the way it is worded implicitly states 'and the mithral versions of those medium and heavy armors,' meaning that the mithral chainmail, although light now, still counts as medium for purposes of this feat. |
| Pliskit10-20-05, 07:11 AM | But mithral chainmail is light armor, it's even written in the Races of the wild equipment section as light armor. So it should count as light, not medium. Mithral chainmail is REGARDED as light armor only for penalties, it still IS medium armor, so this bonus will apply in my opinion. Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. |
