AlienFromBeyond 08-17-05, 12:50 PM	Alright, in Weapons of Legacy, there is a Prc called Champion of Legacy that uses a new and interesting mechanic. Instead of adding spellcaster levels, it instead adds levels to determine new abilities, which includes spellcasting. Thus, a Paladin 10/Champion of Legacy 10 has all the abilities as an 18th level Paladin (the Prc doesn't grant this at 1st and 10th level), plus the abilities from Champion of Legacy. Not hard to understand, but it gets really wonky when other Prcs come into the picture. Let's say I have a Paladin 5/Random Prc 5/Champion of Legacy 10. Can only 5 of the existing class features feature be applied to the Prc (we're assuming it's a 10 level Prc) and the rest have to be applied to Paladin? If you can go past, that would mean you would be getting various epic level benefits pre-epic, though of course you do not qualify for epic feats. Does help with anything that would be advanced in epic though. What happens if instead you do Paladin 5/Random Prc 5/Champion of Legacy 9/Same Random Prc 1? Do you just gain skill points, saves, HD, and BAB because you've already gotten any 6th (or 14th, depending on your answer to the previous question) level abilities from Champion of Legacy? Or do you also gain abilities as if you were 11th (5 in the actual class, 5 from Champion of Legacy, and then an additional level in the actual class) level in the Prc? This could potentially get really ugly with the Kensai Prc from Complete Warrior. Random Core Classes to get Kensai pre-reqs 5/Kensai 6/Champion of Legacy 9. If it all stacks favorably, you would be considered a level 14 Kensai for any abilities you have. Thus, a weapon up to a total +14 modifier by level 20. Would of course have to figure out how Kensai works in epic levels, but that's another topic. Oh, and if anyone has Unearthed Arcana, this could wreck havoc in a gestalt game. Barbarian 20 on one side and Fighter 10/Champion of Legacy 10 on the other side, applying Champion of Legacy increases to Barbarian. Considered a level 28 Barbarian for abilities? Doesn't increase Prc wonkiness though, as you can't take 2 Prcs at the same time in gestalt ;).
Lord Schpungus 08-17-05, 03:22 PM	It's an interesting question, but I don't think it's addressed. It sure wasn't thought out for multiple PrCs. I'd tentatively say it's for base class abilities only, but there's nothing about it in the class..

If you do wizard/wizard prestige class you only get one level of wizard progress. Same thing with everything else. Like BAB, hd, saves...
Ghaede Emperor 08-22-05, 09:24 AM	I understand your confusion, but you can't take levels in a class beyond its listed max (ie. you can't go to level 11 in a 10 level prestige class) UNTIL you are epic. Which means 20 total class levels (or ECL 20). This is in the Epic Handbook, and probably in the 3.5 DMG.
AlienFromBeyond 08-22-05, 06:03 PM	I know that. If you actually read my post, you'll see no class levels go beyond the normal non-epic limits. It just so happens that I appear to be gaining class abilities as if I had 11 or more levels in the class. That does not mean I actually am, only for the purposes of abilities.
