Hiya, Dragon magazine #335 has rules for a chaotic alignment monk with some variant abilities from the standard, this new monk seems kind of in-tune with Bruce Lee's "Jeet Kun Do" (style without style) and could be a rather fiesty new stlye of monk that would break the traditions of most campaigns monastic orders.

Flailing strike instead of flurry of blows etc.

What do you think of this alternate class?

heh, funny, I just got back from the bookstore after seeing that same class, and came online to tell the people in the Lawful Barbarians/Chaotic monks thread about it, I think it's very interesting, and might try it, if half a dozen other character ideas don't beat it to my mind ^_^. I think all we need them to do now is make a lawful barbarian(and maybe a lawful Bard) and we'd be set! we could toss out silly concepts like writing out two capital letters that sometimes mean directions(out-of game, that is...) and just play characters without having them categorized. I, from the bottom of my heart, thank the people who have continued on the breaking of alignment(through working with it) with the Chaos Monk.(and I'm sure they watch these boards... *shifty eyes* 'we're being watched'*twig snaps* 'Eep!' *dive into bushes! hide check**roll*what!?!*disbelieving look and murmuring under breath* 'natural 1! Noooooooo!!!!!!!!! Khaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!')....sorry, I'm done now...^_^*sheepish grin....*
