Batshido 05-23-07, 11:18 AM	So . . . Other than using options from Unearthed Arcana . . . ? Sam W. There's a PrC in Complete Divine that is a CG Paladin. It even gives ex-Paladin's extra abilities. That's still not core, though. Soulborn (from MoI) and Crusaders (from ToB) both do really good Paladin impressions, but once again, not core. I honestly don't expect you to find anything in Core. I stay away from FR, due to that whole brokenness issue.

Batshido 05-23-07, 11:25 AM	Thanks. I assume ToB is Tome of Battles or something (memory horrible at the moment - not Tome of Blood right?) - and MoI would be.. ? Sam W. ToB= Tome of Battle. The Crusader is an "any flavor Paladin" with no restriction on alignment. MoI= Magic of Incarnum. The Soulborn is basically a Paladin with Incarnum based abilities rather than Divine. They have to be at an extreme (CG, LG, LE, CE).
Jenrock 05-23-07, 11:42 AM	Also not core, in Dragon #310 on page 49, there is the Avenger, which is a Chaotic Good paladin. Other than that, I would second Crusader (Tome of Battle), and Soulborn (Magic of Incarnum).

I remember reading that rather recently - and not the holy liberator. Something about having a quote where he is down-talking paladins for being blind to the world or something. Damn it!!@#$!@$ I can't believe I forgot which prestige class that was... hrm.. Sam W.

Deathmond 05-23-07, 02:43 PM	Gray Guard from Complete Scoundrel is what you're thinking of I believe. It still requires you to be LG, but at the tenth level you're granted the freedom to act as you deem necessary to advance your faith.

They are chosen from the most driven and focused Paladins, given the ability to break and bend the rules becasue they can be trusted taht it really willb e for the greater good. Dark, Gritty, Dedicated, Focued and LG to the very core. Nothing like a bitter ex-paladin, in fact he is probably a bitter ex-paladin's worst nightmare.

I don't own the book, and barely got a chance to look at the class. And when I looked at it, I didn't much like the flavor. After all, it kind of defeats the Paladin flavor, don't you think?
Evil DM Mk3 05-23-07, 02:55 PM	No, not really. This is the Paladin who "takes the light into the dark". He is differant, yes, but at the heart he is identical in flavour, prehaps moreso. He is the Black Ops agent of LG, he is no less dedicated to his ideals. Remember that the PrC states that only the truly dedicated are chosen, the most LG of the Paladins as only they can be trusted not to abuse the powers of paladinhood without the Oath to keep tabs on them.
