I'm looking to make a villian for a RPG run through of a short story I'm running. In a nutshell I am interested in who would win comparing the hero and the villian based on 3.5 rules.

The guidelines:

1) The character must have monk and enlightened fist levels. Enough enlightened fist levels to use touch spells with his attacks. (level 4?) No more than two base classes, prefer to keep things at one prestige class. 15 total levels, 200k weath by level (DMG pg 135)

2) No divine classes, no wizard, no sorceror. NO sword sages

3) The character is evil, no classes requiring good alignment ever.

4) Options are limited to the core books, complete books, race books, spell compendium, and Dragonlance campaign setting. No Tome of Battle, Tome of Magic, Book of Vile Darkness, Book of Exhalted Deeds, or any psionic sourcebook.

5) Human, no templates.

6) Would like to have access to Mirror Image and Touch of Idiocy either through spell, ability, or item use.

I have faith that many of you would like the challenge. I hope that "This class/race/build sucks" posts will be kept to a minimum. Keep in mind that the story is already written, but I will post the round by round as it unfolds if there is interest.

Why Monk? Enlightened Fist is gained by other classes...
Btw: arcane Fist is 3rd level.

2) No divine classes, no wizard, no sorceror. NO sword sages

4) Options are limited to the core books, complete books, race books, spell compendium, and Dragonlance campaign setting. No Tome of Battle, Tome of Magic, Book of Vile Darkness, Book of Exhalted Deeds, or any psionic sourcebook.

I'm confused: you banned Tome of Battle; why mention no Swordsage...thet is ToB...

Why no Psionics?

What spellcasting classes are left?
Warmage, Wu Jen (hardly any touch spells), Bard,

6) Would like to have access to Mirror Image and Touch of Idiocy either through spell, ability, or item use.

You mean: needs or can have?

Strange rules.

One question: what point buy?

A Monk 2 Duskblade 3 would be an interesting entry into Enlightened Fist although the armor allowances of the Duskblade don't do anything for the character and Arcane Channeling is a little redundant with Arcane Fist.

Another interesting choice would be Monk 2 Warlock 3. Once you got Hold Ray you could make a full unarmed attack while hitting someone with an Eldritch Blast (modified with essenses and shapes even!). The Warlock doesn't have a great deal of touch invocations however (unless new ones have come out) so the returns on this build may take a while to see although Hold Ray is certainly worth it!

I immediately like the idea of a Monk/Wu Jen, although as brought up earlier they have few touch spells. Let's go into more depth. Elemental Burst is touch (although not a great one), Kiss of the Toad is their only 2nd level touch spell though it is good, NO 3rd level touches (looking very grim), Rusting Grasp comes in at 4th which is quite nice, Yeesh nothing 5th or 6th, at 7th you get Withering Palm which is excellent, nothing again in 8th, but in 9th you can pick up Imprisonment which is quite nasty.

I quite like the existing spell list of the Wu Jen, but I wouldn't be averse to adding some touch spells to it. There are several fitting touch spells in the Spell Compendium that you could adapt for the Wu Jen's spell list, and the Spell Compendium actually says that you can do this for your game should you feel the need to bring other arcane casters up to speed.

My final recommedation: If you can find other Warlock invocations that require touch attacks other than Curse of Despair and Devour Magic (both quite good however) go with Monk 2/Warlock 3/Enlightened Fist 10. Make sure to pick up Practiced Spellcaster and Superior Unarmed Strike and you are ready to knock people senseless!

If you cannot find any worthwhile Warlock invocations to take then appropriate some touch spells for the Wu Jen class and go with Monk 2/Wu Jen 3/Enlightened Fist 7 and pick up either a few more Monk levels, maybe some Paladin levels (going with the Paladin of Tyranny from Unearthed Arcana) or go with 3 levels in Abjurant Champion to round out your BAB and boost the Wu Jen's large amount of buffs.

Didn't have the book with me, was going from memory. If the build is good enough I could be swayed from monk. The villian's tribe teaches all able-bodied youths to fight without weapons until they are considered an adult. Dipping into monk seems better than grabbing a feat.

I'm confused: you banned Tome of Battle; why mention no Swordsage...thet is ToB...

I know it's from ToB, but just the mere mention of Swordsage vs. Monk makes me twitch.

Why no Psionics?

The villian and hero are from a nomadic tribe that has no history of psionic talent. The tribe also believes that they do not have arcane casters among them, stemming from casting them out generations ago. Divine magic is explained by miracles worked by ancestor spirits to guard the living. The villian breaks tradition by discovering arcane talent within himself.

What spellcasting classes are left?
Warmage, Wu Jen (hardly any touch spells), Bard,

Duskblade, Beguiler, Spellthief, Warlock, Hexblade....

Again, no books available at the moment, so this is from memory. I would consider sorceror but there are a few monk/sorceror/enlightened fist build out there already. I was hoping for something different.

You mean: needs or can have?

Those two spells are mentioned in the story. I can take poetic license and write them out, hence the like to have.

Strange rules.

Just trying to keep the flavor of the story. And I figure the challenge would peak some people's interest.

One question: what point buy?

Don't worry too much about attributes, if necessary consider minimum for all feats, maximum 17 (+3 mod) at first level. If you require a point buy, then 32 points.

Again has few touch spells, but lots of buffs, but the Wu Jen can learn other arcane spells from scrolls and of course you can adapt some other spells from spell compendium if you'd like. The Aura of Despair works wonders to help your spells and you have a myriad of offensive and defensive boosts through Stunning Fists, Energy Fist, Fiery Fist, Deadly Touch, Fiery Ki Defense and the several self buffs available to Wu Jen's. Use your Belt of Battle to gain extra actions to buff yourself if need be, activate your Ki Defense and tear into opponents with your powerfully enhanced attacks.

I like the two options listed here. Kinda hoped that I'd get more of a response, but that's alright.

I was thumbing through the complete warrior and thought that maybe a hexblade 8/monk 2/enlightened fist 5 might be interesting, using the dark companion option out of PHB2. Taking anything with an armor proficiency seems a bit of a waste though. Not sure, depends on if a higher wisdom was used for not. Low wisdom would counter some MAD and make armor a bit more useful. It's not like Stunning Fist is terribly useful at that level besides fueling EFist abilities and feats.
bkdubs123

You should note that with Kung Fu Genius on my build I eliminate MAD by shifting anything Monk related that relied on Wisdom to Intelligence this means AC bonus, but also Stunning Fist save DC, along with boosting the save DCs of the Wu Jen's spells. Couple that with the Aura of Despair and Stunning Fist can easily be useful.

Also, if you can get Gauntlets of Dexterity and Ogre Power (a bit of a stretch) swap that tome out, I just couldn't afford to get both so I chose an inherent bonus rather than a magical one.
