| SirGalland10-27-04, 09:50 PM | In my reading over the years I came across a character class called the Shadow Mage. I am at a loss to where I read this  , possibly Dragon? If anyone could point me in the right direction on where I can find information on this character class, it would be much appreciated :) |
| tiluvias9910-27-04, 10:02 PM | could it be the prenumbral lord from relics and rituals? |
| shadow mage10-27-04, 10:22 PM | Might it have been my class? I never heard of any other shadow mages... |
| SirGalland10-27-04, 10:41 PM | This was probably from 10 years ago, actually I am almost positive it is from the 1980's AD&D game. I am searching all of my Dragon mag's now and the other nifty books/mag's that I have aquired over the years. If someone does not find it, I will!!! I am now on a mission!!! :D |

My 2ed books have long since been packed away in the attic, but a quick web search turned this title up, and it does ring a bell. I made a shadow mage (back in the day), and I do seem to recall finding it in this book. |

Schools of Philosophy covered the traditional D&D schools: abjuration, evocation, etc. Schools of Effect differ from schools of philosophy in that the spells of the school all share one common result or ingredient, regardless of the spell's traditional affiliation. These schools included: air, fire, water, earth, dimension, force and shadow (where the shadow mage comes in). The final grouping was Schools of Thaumaturgy: alchemy, artifice, geometry, song and wild magic. |

| darczero10-28-04, 09:49 AM | *pulls out copy of Spells & Magic* Shadow Mage, specialist in school of effect; class described on pages 19 and 20, spells that appear in school listed on page 184, only one new spell appears in that book (Wall of Gloom, 2nd level), four new spells appear in Tome of Magic (Lorloveim's Creeping Shadow, 3rd level; Bloodstone's Spectral Steed, 6th level; Lorloveim's Shadowy Transformation, 6th level; Shadowcat, 7th level), all other spells appear in Player's Handbook. As a 2nd edition Specialist Wizard, they were pretty decent. There's also the Shadow Adept from the FRCS in 3.0 (has been updated to 3.5 so they could kill their Spell Power ability). |
| SirGalland10-28-04, 08:35 PM | Thank you everyone for you help, the character class must have been from PO books. It was a character that I created with the old AD&D Core Rules software. I never knew that it pulled so much information from so many places (ie books that I have never owned or heard of) Once again, thank you all for your help and insight. I guess that I will have to look into that Shadow Adept from FRCS in 3.0 (???) well met Sir Galland |
