My current DM is going to allow us to start using character trees to deal with PC death
"Ok, here's a way we can handle character deaths:
It's called a Character Tree. You start with your current PC, then from your starting level you apply half your earned XP to the secondary PC, and if you also want to design a 3rd PC, then a quarter earned XP. And just keep track and level your second and third PCs. If your 1st PC dies (or you want to retire them) then you would bring in your second PC where he's at and your third PC would then become your 2nd PC earning half now."

The problem is that I'm currently playing a human archivist (Heroes of Horror) and I'm looking for interesting character concepts for a new character.
I don't really want to play a heavy spellcaster type, and I was thinking perhaps a monk or Prince of Persia based character with one level of a psionic class for the "up the walls" feat.
I usually end up playing divine spellcasters, (cleric, druid, archivist) and so I was thinking maybe tatooed monk or something
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW my favorite race to play is halfling but I think I don't want to play one this time.
P.S. I don't want to play bards, I detest them for personal reasons

Perhaps a Psychic Warrior or Lurk?
