I thought the typical optimized rogue build used a pair of shortswords or a rapier and a shortsword to take advantage of sneak attack dice. Is the article wrong, or is two weapon fighting not worth the feats? |
| Dead_Weasel06-28-07, 04:43 AM | The Characters with Class articles have absolutely nothing to do with optimizing, optimized characters, or optimal equipment/feat/skill selection. Unless, of course, they get something right by accident. That is, however, rather unlikely. |

Is the article wrong, or is two weapon fighting not worth the feats? It is a choice. I can see some worth in a proposition that tries to up your AC, but your offense tends to suffer. |

| zeruslord06-29-07, 11:36 AM | The general impression I got from the article was more negative. If your class offers any special combat abilities, however, such as the ranger's fighting style, you might decide to fight with a weapon in each hand. Effective fighting with two weapons requires a big investment in feats (and in weapons, once you start considering magical weapons), so it usually doesn't pay unless your class gives you some bonus feats. It talks about two-weapon fighting entirely in terms of feats and the ranger, but not sneak attack output. |
