| WotC_Bart09-26-06, 01:46 PM | Hi folks, Today's Prestige Class article provided player's feedback (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20060926a) on the Mystic Theurge (from Creighton Broadhurst's original article (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20060908a)). At the end of the article, we asked which prestige classes you would like to see covered in future articles. Just let us know, at: dndfeedback@wizards.com, or on this thread -- and be sure to tell us if there's a prestige class from 3.0 (or even a 2nd edition kit) you would like to see converted to 3.5! Many thanks. |
| Disciple_of_Juiblex09-27-06, 12:15 AM | I cant quite remember the class name but i think it was something along the candlecaster? it was a class that could scribe spells into candles. its in one of my freind's paperback books. I love to see it get updated! :D |
| Seerow09-27-06, 12:24 AM | A 3.0 class to 3.5? I'd like to see Deepwood Sniper updated, it was one of the few good archery PrCs, and it never got an update to my knowledge. |
| SaintX09-27-06, 12:39 AM | because i know it will be said: OozeMaster. and for myself, i would like to see the weaponmaster updated. |
| cyroman09-27-06, 12:53 AM | With the release of Hordes of the Abyss and the update of several 3.0 demons and devils from the Book of Vile Darkness to v.3.5, I would like to see some prestige classes from the Book of Exalted Deeds updated. I would especially like to see the Fist of Raziel and the Defender of Sealtiel updated. Of course, the Fist of Raziel would have to be given some balance this time around. :P Alternatively, I would love to see 2nd Ed. AD&D cleric kits (such as the Champion of Torm) updated into 3.5 prestige classes. |
| 0gremage09-27-06, 01:05 AM | Ohh yeah, I've been waiting for you guys to put out a Undead Master Prestige class for 3.0, or 3.5.. Originally in 2nd Edition-The Necromancy Source Book. I have a 2nd edition character that is by far my favorite DnD character, and those who I have played with, remember all too well, at how insanley bad-arse they are. Please, please, please make an Undead Master prestige class, so I may once again rule the universie,(or at least my friend's DnD party). Thanx, 0gremage |
| tilloch09-27-06, 01:18 AM | Because the Prestige Class Descriptions are more often than not pretty succinct, just about any of them could use a treatment similar to Creighton's treatment of the Mystic Theurge. My personal preference would be the Bonded Summoner (MH). Being from the Miniatures Handbook, the class description has very little flavor. It could use a good "treatment". The Beastlord (CW) would be interesting as well. Thanks for the articles no matter what they're on. Tilloch |
| Deitin09-27-06, 01:23 AM | I would like to see the Ghostwalker prestige class from Sword and Fist. It had a cool flavor to it. |
| johnkretzer09-27-06, 01:31 AM | I would like to see the lasher PRC from Sword and Fist updated. From second edition I would like to see the Blade updated to a PRC. |
| tsuyoshikentsu09-27-06, 01:32 AM | Seconded for Lasher and Oozemaster. Also Foe Hunter and Forsaker. You wanna talk about cool... |
| Waylander09-27-06, 01:33 AM | I'd love to see all the Book of Vile Darkness PrCs updated.. I miss the prestige class Ghostwalker since I no longer use 3.0 material. Lasher as well.. |
| Lord_Yy09-27-06, 01:41 AM | I'd personally like to see the Master Transmogrifist from Complete Arcane revisited. What with what's happened with Polymorph, it could prove to be a REALLY interesting article... |
| Loki565409-27-06, 01:50 AM | Another vote for Lasher. Maybe Verdant Lord. |
| Dethro09-27-06, 01:52 AM | I know one of my friends has been talking to me about him converting the gladiator kit from (1st/2nd) to 3.5, so if possible I'd recommend that, or if not then just anything from 2nd ed to 3.5. Bring back some nostalgia for the older players :D |
| Roivas09-27-06, 01:57 AM | Please update Ninja of the Crescent Moon, from Song and Silence, to 3.5 at your earliest conveniance. A player of mine keeps bothering me to let him play one, but I'm not sure if it would work properly with the 3.5 update. Thank you. |
| jaelis09-27-06, 02:33 AM | Call me dull, but I'd like to see an article on the Eldritch Knight. Some comments on their balance and playability would be interesting, especially if you can drop in some comparisons to other caster/fighter PrCs like the bladesinger and spellsword. |
| celexter09-27-06, 02:38 AM | No. Not dull. I myself would like to see feedback on that. Anyway, it appears that everyone is asking for updates only (which is usually not necessary for many PrC as they can be easily brought into v3.5). We are supposed to suggest classes for in-depth reviews too. |
| Silverthumb12809-27-06, 02:43 AM | and for myself, i would like to see the weaponmaster updated. I vote Weaponmaster, as well. If not, well, I've always been a fan of the Forsaker. |
| Sucros09-27-06, 03:04 AM | Another vote for the candlecaster to be converted |
| shadow mage09-27-06, 04:14 AM | Jaelis, I like your idea. An article on the Eldritch Knight (DMG) would be interesting, especially if it provided a bit of role-play flavor, something the printed version currently lacks (or rather, leaves entirely open to the player, without any direction beyond the mechanics of the class). However, I'm also a huge fan of the Assassin (DMG), and would love to see an article expand on that particular PrC. For updates, seconded for Ghostwalker (Sword and Fist) and Lasher (Sword and Fist). I've got my own update of the Ghostwalker (in my signature), but I want to see what can be done with it in 3.5, and the Lasher is just a beauty I similarly reworked (just never posted), and would similarly like to see what WotC does to update it. -Shadow Mage |
| shadow mage09-27-06, 04:18 AM | Please update Ninja of the Crescent Moon, from Song and Silence, to 3.5 at your earliest conveniance. A player of mine keeps bothering me to let him play one, but I'm not sure if it would work properly with the 3.5 update. Thank you. Sword and Fist, you mean. Not Song and Silence. ;) -Shadow Mage |
| FriendlyBiscuit09-27-06, 04:27 AM | Lasher for an update. Ur-priest and the BoED pansy-goodguy equivalent for an in-depth discussion: tell us why they're not broken. I'm of the belief that very few things besides Frenzied Berserkers, Initiates of the Sevenfold Veil, Natural Spell, and Use Magic Device are broken. It'd be nice to have an official treatment of those two, however, as my DM remains unconvinced. A theory I've had, and would be interesting if discussed, is the idea that things like FBs and IoSVs were never intended for PCs... they're for adventure's-end bosses to be memorable, exciting, and worth their CR even when fighting alone and surrounded by PCs on all sides. If something like that were indeed the truth, I would be a very happy Biscuit. |
| Lyinginbedmon09-27-06, 04:56 AM | I'd love to see the Radiant Servant of Pelor reviewed, or maybe the miracle behind Pun-Pun: Master of Many Forms. As for updates? Maybe some of the Epic level prestige classes would be good to see :D |
| Ehlonn09-27-06, 05:45 AM | I know one of my friends has been talking to me about him converting the gladiator kit from (1st/2nd) to 3.5 I did just that a while ago :D. Have a look: http://dnd.schtuff.com/gladiator_class Personally, I would like to see some extra info on the stormcaster prestige class from Stormwrack. |
| Valgard09-27-06, 07:06 AM | Please, update the MASTER OF CHAINS! from Sword And Fist, I know that somewhere says that you may use the Exotic Weapon Master, but those awesome things that masters of chains made were of no comparison. For Class revisions, all prestige classes based on multiclass options should be reviewed. Let's say, Eldritch Knight, Arcane Trickster, Arcane Archer (Dungeon Master's Guide), and maybe some of these: Fochluchan Lyrist, Shadowbane Stalker, Shadowbane Inquisitor (Complete Adventurer), True Necromancer (Libris Mortis), Arcane Hierophant (Races Of The Wild) etc, etc. |
| OmegaRSX09-27-06, 07:21 AM | Yet another vote for Candle Caster from Tome and Blood. Also, the Shifter from page 68 of Masters of the Wild. |
| VrecknidjX09-27-06, 07:46 AM | I'd like to see some detail on the Loremaster. What went into the design, why those abilities rather than some other, and is the class a decent PC choice, or is it really better for NPCs. Dave |
| Razz09-27-06, 08:15 AM | You do realize they asked which 3.0 PrC you wanted updated to 3.5, not which 3.5 PrC you want them to re-create? Also, some 3.0 PrC are fine the way they are. Deepwood Sniper I noticed people keep asking for, but I have a friend with that PrC and we play a 3.5 game and it works just fine. Just exactly what is wrong with it that you can't use it for 3.5 or tweak it so that it can? Oozemaster works fine, too, with 3.5 so exactly what elements can't be used with 3.5 on that one? And same with Master of Chains and Lasher. The same with Foe Hunter, as someone else mentioned, the same player uses a Foe Hunter PrC in my 3.5 games and it didn't need tweaking at all. Bonded Summoner and those BoED PrC are 3.5, they're done. If anything, the very first prestige class that comes to mind when someone asks me what they should updated is the FORSAKER I have been waiting for that one to be updated for a long time already. So, yeah, WotC. I'll make it clear enough: :D FORSAKER |
| Tweedledope09-27-06, 08:25 AM | Oozemaster Lasher Verdant Lord Forsaker Ghostwalker Mystic Wanderer Master Alchemist Master of Chains There that should be good enough for now...for the love of God though, give the Oozemaster some love!!! ((Check out my siggie too, it's got a nice Oozemaster in there)). -=TD=- |
| pita09-27-06, 08:30 AM | Scaled Horror from Savage Species. I would also like some way to make the Dragon Shaman not overpower the Dragon Disciple. |
| Tincan109909-27-06, 08:41 AM | Lets take a closer look at the the Hammer of Moradin or Warpriest |
| Archangel6209-27-06, 08:49 AM | I'd like Ghostwalker Weapon Master |
| Shaggy_Shaggs09-27-06, 08:59 AM | I'd like to see a Cancer Mage update that can work, without removing Festering Anger and Vile Rigidity from the game entirely. The Typhoid Mary PrC concept is kinda cool, but it would be nice if it weren't so open to abuse. More examination of Frenzied Berserkers would be good too... and a direct explicit answer on whether they fall unconscious if their nonlethal damage exceeds their hp while in Deathless Frenzy. Written very simply, plainly and forcefully, as if for six year olds, and others who can't see it already written into the ability that they don't. |
| Urborg_necromancer09-27-06, 09:03 AM | I want to see my favorite prestige Master of Chains from sword &fist updated to 3.5. |
| Warlord Griffin09-27-06, 09:24 AM | Master of Chains good I would not mind seeing all of the archer prestige classes getting a 3.5 update. Finally, I know I am going to get smacked for this but come on Red Wizard of Thay has not been getting the evil loving it should |
| OrbitalB09-27-06, 09:49 AM | Well, let me chime in with all the others asking for an updated Forsaker. |
| woolybooger09-27-06, 09:59 AM | there was a 2e. kit(?) called the force mage. a specialist who manipulated magic as pure force. didnt have time to play one then. there is now the force domain for clerics, but is limited to calling on the chaotic forces of the universe by followers of the nihilist deity tharzidun. i would like to see force mage as a specialist wizard like diviner, etc. especially with all the force spells out now. argent savant doesnt quite do it. |
| glitch_wraith09-27-06, 10:00 AM | I add my vote to Ghostwalker. Also, I've been wanting an update to the Fang of Lolth prestige class from Song and Silence. |
| Particle_Man09-27-06, 10:09 AM | 1) Assassin. I'm a traditionalist. :) Also, I would like to see advice in one place on what the poor assassin does against foes that are either immune to death attacks outright, or who have either high or ridiculously high fort saves. 2) Holy Liberator, but I admit that is more personal taste. |
| Todd09-27-06, 10:19 AM | I want to see the Master of Many forms covered. With the changes to Wildshape & Polymorph rules this PrC really seems to have been forgotten. I would be very interested in seeing what the developers think of this class both in terms of when it was developed and now that the rules changes are in effect. There also seem to be a ton of feats and other PrC that are treading more and more on the Master of Many Forms's territory. Spell Compendium contains a spell that let’s pure druids gain Extraordinary abilities, something that previously only the Master of Many Forms could do for instance. The arcane Master Transmogrifest has far earlier access to Extraordinary senses and gains spellcasting increases while the Master of Many Forms gains no casting increases and delayed access to senses. Lords of Madness has the Aberrant Wildshape feat granting vanilla druids Aberration forms, formerly a Master of Many Forms only perk. With the regular addition of new things like this what is the Master of Many Form’s role among other PrCs? I’ve also long wondered why the Master of Many forms never gains the ability to transform into Magical Beasts. These forms seem far more “natural” than the Aberration, Ooze, and others that the PrC does grant access to. Finally I’m interested in hearing the thoughts on how Wizards of the Coast envisions the Master of Many Form’s role in the party and potential roleplaying angles. |
| AkaKageWarrior09-27-06, 10:23 AM | Forsaker Ninja of the Crescent Moon thx, AKW |
| sCRuLooSe09-27-06, 11:08 AM | Another vote for Verdant Lord and Forsaker. From the 2nd edition book The Complete Thief's Handbook I would love to see the Troubleshooter kit transferred. The concept of things defying probability just happening to a rogue character just seems fun to me. "In a way, the Troubleshooter is a living manifestation of 'Murphy's Law': 'If anything can go wrong, it will.' The Troubleshooter thief, of course, capitalizes on this professionally. His job is to find everything that can go wrong, so it can be fixed." |
| PurinaDragonChow09-27-06, 11:10 AM | I'd like to see 3.5 versions of: Lasher Master Alchemist Mystic Wanderer |
| rilem09-27-06, 11:12 AM | Master of Many Forms does need an update to adjust to whatever polymorph rules are currently in vogue. My vote for a reworked class is the Ghostwalker. Wonderful flavor here, but the mechanics never worked properly and even in 3.0 it became a widely ignored PrC. WotC should definitely take another crack at it. I agree that a lot of PrCs like the Lasher, Foe Hunter and Deepwood Sniper work almost perfectly in 3.5. I don't see the need for a rewrite here. |
| shadow mage09-27-06, 11:12 AM | You do realize they asked which 3.0 PrC you wanted updated to 3.5, not which 3.5 PrC you want them to re-create? Also, some 3.0 PrC are fine the way they are. Deepwood Sniper I noticed people keep asking for, but I have a friend with that PrC and we play a 3.5 game and it works just fine. And same with Master of Chains and Lasher. There is merit in this; Lasher, for instance, is perfect as is, as is Deepwood Sniper and a few others in those 3.0 splatbooks (especially once the Errata went through). However, that doesn't stop us from being curious as to what they would look like. I use my own updated Ghostwalker and Lasher, but I still want to see what WotC does with them in a 3.5 update, see? This discussion, perhaps, might be discussed on another thread... to leave this one free of clutter? -Shadow Mage |
| FaintestInkling09-27-06, 11:19 AM | Oozemaster, Ghostwalker |
| Kalthandrix09-27-06, 11:28 AM | I would like to see the lasher PRC from Sword and Fist updated. From second edition I would like to see the Blade updated to a PRC. Where did the Blade kit come from - was the from the Fighters Handbook? |
| Kalthandrix09-27-06, 11:37 AM | However, I'm also a huge fan of the Assassin (DMG), and would love to see an article expand on that particular PrC. -Shadow Mage I would have to agree and disagree with you shadow mage - I do think that the Assassin PrC should get some more material behind it like a review or article but... I have to say that I believe this PrC. I have always had an issue with a basically rogue class suddenly learning to use spells. In my opinion, this class falls short of the true wonder that is the assassin - where is the highly trained killer that focuses all of his time perfecting his stealth and ability to disguise himself in order to gain acess to a targets fortress? With spells, it is kind of like cheating by the rules - why up your ranks in disguise or hide when you can cast a spell? Giving them spells seems like it was just tacked on because it was the easiest route to go IMO. I have actually developed a PrC that is called the Honed Blade for the express purpose of having assassins that do not have spellcasting abilities. I drew from some of the higher level rogue abilities for inspiration and several other ideas in order to make this class one that relied upon his training and skills then one who relies on spellcasting ability to make the kill. As for new prestige classes, I would love to see more in the way of psionic PrCs. I am an avid Dark Sun fan and have written/converted several of the kits from the Will and the Way Dark Sun accessory - I think that now with psionics becoming much more of a core class in the 3.5 setting vs. the kind of world-limited class that psionics were like for the 2e setting, that it would be great to see some of the older Dark Sun kits kind of change and be adapted to fit the whole of the 3.5 game. |
| MoonSprite09-27-06, 11:37 AM | Candlecaster, Weapon Master and Deepwood Sniper are my choices. |
| Blackstorm09-27-06, 12:02 PM | I want to see the Master of Many forms covered. With the changes to Wildshape & Polymorph rules this PrC really seems to have been forgotten. I would be very interested in seeing what the developers think of this class both in terms of when it was developed and now that the rules changes are in effect. Finally I’m interested in hearing the thoughts on how Wizards of the Coast envisions the Master of Many Form’s role in the party and potential roleplaying angles. I agree with Todd !!! Master of Many Forms is very weaker than is old version (Shifter in 3.0) and with the changes to Wildshape & Polymorph rules, it become even weaker... An example : I would like to be able to shift into a creature (ie: elf) without having to be naked :D and when a magic item fits my new form, I would like to keep it fonctionnal ! I love that Prc and I hope that WotQ will not let him so weak... Please help him by giving him a little boost to match the other PrCs... An article on him will be very appreciated. So I vote for Master of Many Forms !!! |
| nonstoprobot09-27-06, 12:14 PM | Ninja of the Crescent Moon |
| johnnype09-27-06, 12:15 PM | I nominate the Deepwood Sniper for an upgrade to 3.5 I'd like a in depth look at the Elocater from the XPH. |
| Syreene09-27-06, 12:20 PM | Hi folks, Today's Prestige Class article provided player's feedback (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20060926a) on the Mystic Theurge (from Creighton Broadhurst's original article (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20060908a)). I've been playing a 1/2 Drow Ranger (no Drizzt flames please), and was looking into the Bladedancer Presitge Class from 3.0 as she is beginning to follow the ways of Eilistraee. I would love to see an updated version! |
| wulfgyr09-27-06, 12:20 PM | The Dragon Disciple could certainly use re-examining in the wake of the year of the Dragon additions it seems to have gotten lost. |
| Pyke_Moonshadow09-27-06, 12:26 PM | I agree with the Candlecaster and Forsaker. |
| Nylkran09-27-06, 12:40 PM | Well I would like to see my favourite Prc from Sword and Fist, (or was ot Warriors of Faith?), updated into 3.5 edition, The knight of the Middle Circle a full BAB class with True Strike as a class ability and another cool goodies. |
| kumquatelvis09-27-06, 12:58 PM | Another vote for Verdant Lord. Especially if an update replaced the animal companion (assuming you started as a Druid) with, I dunno, a plant one? |
| MindWandererB09-27-06, 01:09 PM | I'd like to see an article on the Shifter, as well. Updates of 2e kits: pretty much everything in the Bards' handbook. The Blade, the Charlatan, the Gallant, the Halfling Whistler, the--what was the gnome one? the Skald... that was my favorite 2e book ever. There were some neat ranger kits, too. There was one about being a "wild child," and this other one about a ranger who turned into a tree, to the point of being able to graft extra limbs onto himself as if he were a tree ("limbing"). |
| Gally91209-27-06, 01:36 PM | 8th Vote for the Candle Caster... What a great PrC! :D |
| tsuyoshikentsu09-27-06, 02:08 PM | To all of you asking: the purpose to getting a 3.5 update to classes already compatible is so that those moronic DMs who allow 3.5 only will let us play them. |
| Jhaelen09-27-06, 02:12 PM | Lasher, for instance, is perfect as isHmm, I don't know. I'd really like to see a 3.5 update for the lasher (be sure to include 3.5 stats for the whip dagger, as well - or an adequate substitution for it). Alternatively, providing a list of 3.0 prestige classes which are perfectly fine to be used in 3.5 would be welcome, too - especially if each class has a short paragraph elaborating on why it's still perfectly fine :) |
| Quarion Silverfrond09-27-06, 02:34 PM | I cant quite remember the class name but i think it was something along the candlecaster? it was a class that could scribe spells into candles. its in one of my freind's paperback books. I love to see it get updated! :D Yeah that was the name, and I agree. |
| kehyde09-27-06, 02:56 PM | Here is a second vote for the Force Mage...loved it in 2ed. I wold also love to see about maybe expanding the Force missile mage prestige class and most definitely updating the Elven Archer from the Complete Book of Elves, 2ed. Loved his range ability even without any melee ability. |
| Trailfoot09-27-06, 02:57 PM | I know it's not a prestige class, but I'd love to see articles on the three base classes from Tome of Magic (especially Truenamer)... actually, any acknowledgement at all from Wizards that this book exists would be nice. As far as PrCs? Elocator and Pyrokineticist from XPH, Dragon Disciple from DMG, and pretty much any of the less-used PrCs from the Complete series would be good. For updates? The fact that Weapon Master hasn't been updated baffles me. |
| Mome_rath09-27-06, 03:13 PM | I second the request to see the Ghostwalker PrC updated. |
| Patron09-27-06, 03:33 PM | Weaponmaster (the OA version - which appear to be an update of the original Sword & Fist) |
| 573v309-27-06, 04:00 PM | It gets no love, and is fairly obscure, but the Arcane Duelest from your website was awesome. Update that and I would be ecstatic. |
| Wookie112009-27-06, 04:01 PM | Weapon Master, dragon disciple. |
| gamertall09-27-06, 04:10 PM | My vote is for updating the prestige classes Candle Caster from Tome & Blood, Master Alchemist from Magic of Faerun, Gladiator from Sword & Fist, and Forsaker and Bane of Infidels from Masters of the Wild. I think a cool article (web-based or Dragon magazine) would be some tips or rules on converting 2nd ed. kits to prestige and/or base classes and some tips on where and how to add the new prestige/base classes to the game. |
| ahiman09-27-06, 04:38 PM | Everything from BoVD. I need the evil powers. Oh and the gladiator. |
| Vorsk09-27-06, 05:05 PM | I'd like to honestly see a written up explaination of: 1. Arcane Heirophant (since Mystic Theurge was completed) This prestige class blends in much more than Mystic Theurge, by bringing in wild shaping, a companion that gains familiar & companion abilities, ability to imbue spells on animals & plants, and spell casting of arcane/nature(divine) spells. Also a discription of the epic Arcane Heirophant please. This part concerns me, since the epic version of the Mystic Theurge that I've seen from .pdf files this class greatly lacks what the non-epic version offers. I then fear the epic version of the Arcane Heirophant would also lack in v3.5. 2. Heirophant Re-evaluation This prestige class in my oppinon greatly lacks what a high powered divine caster would be, since it lacks spell casting as the Arch Mage. I understand the Heirphant does not lose spell levels when selecting abilities, but then to what purpose would any high powered divine caster take this class for if they can not increase their caster level same as a Arch-Mage? 3. Deep Wood Snyper I would like to see this class modified for v3.5, and show a epic version of the class as well. 4. Druid Heirophant request The only prestige class that I see a high powered Druid would take, e.g. Arch Mage to an arcane caster, would be Heirophant but it offers very little for Druids. Where is the prestige class equivalent for Druids, or even Arch-Druids? |
| Razz09-27-06, 05:40 PM | There is merit in this; Lasher, for instance, is perfect as is, as is Deepwood Sniper and a few others in those 3.0 splatbooks (especially once the Errata went through). However, that doesn't stop us from being curious as to what they would look like. I use my own updated Ghostwalker and Lasher, but I still want to see what WotC does with them in a 3.5 update, see? This discussion, perhaps, might be discussed on another thread... to leave this one free of clutter? -Shadow Mage That is true. I just want to make sure everyone's aware that 3.0 PrC that really really need a 3.5 update should be considered over those 3.0 PrC that work quite well or need very little, if any, tweaking. :D |
| JC9909-27-06, 06:00 PM | I'd like to see Song & Silence's Outlaw of the Crimson Road updated. I did a 3.5 version myself, but the class does need to be a little more powerful. |
| nijineko09-27-06, 06:06 PM | i vote for Deepwood Sniper, first. i'm very fond of my archer character that has a few of these levels. second i would vote for the Astral Constructor, but that already recieved some 3.5 treatment in the Mind's Eye and Website. =) after that, Ghostwalker, Candle Caster, Lasher and Shifter. (i miss the flexibility of the old shifter prestige, and how the new classes that deal with shapeshifting tend to restrict one to very limited level-choice-trees to qualify for the shapeshifting ability. *notable exception: warshaper*) |
| Riodrian09-27-06, 06:35 PM | I would like to see more of the 2nd edition kits updated into PrCs. They added a lot of flavor. Most of the bard kits were superb. So my vote goes to convering the Blade and Gallant kits to 3.5 PrC's. |
| GeneticChaos09-27-06, 06:49 PM | I vote for the deepwood sniper, always nice to have more archery options, and the galadiator. |
| phmas09-27-06, 06:51 PM | I have to agree with some people here: a 3.5 MASTER OF CHAINS is certainly a need! The coolest PrC from Sword and Fist! |
| phmas09-27-06, 06:56 PM | 4. Druid Heirophant request The only prestige class that I see a high powered Druid would take, e.g. Arch Mage to an arcane caster, would be Heirophant but it offers very little for Druids. Where is the prestige class equivalent for Druids? It would be really nice to see a High level Druid PrC!!! much like the Archmage, as you say.... maybe the Hierophant could be divide into 2 PrC??? one for druids and one for clerics.... |
| PurinaDragonChow09-27-06, 07:10 PM | I second the idea, suggested above, that if certain of the PrCs from the 3.0 splatbooks are acceptable under 3.5, I'd be happy with a mere blessing of them, as opposed to a total rewrite. |
| Arcane_Phoenix09-27-06, 07:31 PM | Another vote for the dragon disciple. Its just so weak compared to the dragon shaman. Good ideas are in my signature's link :) |
| Amazing_Triangle09-27-06, 07:37 PM | Weapon Master from Sword and Fist |
| Ehput_Keh09-27-06, 07:55 PM | My votes for the GHOSTWALKER first and the DEEPWOOD SNIPER second. I am a big fan of the nameless characters, like "Harmonica" from "Once upon a Time in the west", and the "High plains drifter". |
| Johny_Favourite09-27-06, 08:04 PM | Gladiator or the Spell-less bard from the Darksun setting 2nd ed. |
| tigermantis09-27-06, 08:24 PM | Deepwood sniper and the Verdant Lord for my votes. |
| breakdancin bladesinger09-27-06, 08:34 PM | I'd like to see the Blade kit from The Complete Bard converted. It was one of my favorite 2nd ed kit. |
| DjAsterik09-27-06, 08:47 PM | Forsaker is the most in need out of those mentioned. oh BTW a Frenzied Berserker always lose's to a well placed wall of force, so do alot of things... most of the whining about brokeness stems from a lack of overall game evaluation. |
| talislan09-27-06, 08:54 PM | Following on from the Mystic Theurge column, you could take a look at Geomancers. My friends and I recently had some debates about which was more useful. Almost ended up with two double spell casters in a party of three just to test them out. Also Focclucan Lyrists are always worth an article: Really hard to become one, but powerful once you're there. An article on the blighter would also be cool. And yes, we need a 3.5 ooze master. I was the one who nominated him for last year's creature comp. Such a pitty he was first to go. Ooze masters fill an important niche in the game especially now that living spells are happening. |
| Silverthumb12809-27-06, 09:11 PM | This is awesome, so many votes for Weapon Master and Forsaker. :D |
| frenzied09-27-06, 10:12 PM | My vote goes to the Deepwood sniper, and an article clarifying the master of many forms. The deepwood sniper was an awesome archery class, and confirmation of how it works with 3.5 would be nice. The master of many forms is a very awesome concept, but the latest errata (no keeping equipment) has nerfed it for any humanoidish shapes, so something clarifying how it works, and maybe how to get the best out of it would be helpful. |
| Trannic09-27-06, 10:14 PM | I vote for Ghostwalker and Master of Chains, two of the more flavorful classes I've seen. |
| nijineko09-27-06, 10:14 PM | someone asked for a pyrokineticist update. they already did a 3.5 update for that on the website. here are the links: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030328b (v3.0 kineticist) http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030328b (v3.5 pyro) the second link referances the first. ^^ hope this helps! (vote for deepwood sniper!) |
| Learos09-27-06, 10:17 PM | I'd like to see the Fang of Lloth PrC updated to 3.5 |
| malcolm_n09-27-06, 10:24 PM | I would like to see an actual update to the weaponmaster that doesn't just mash it with the exotic weapon master. The deepwood sniper would be good too. That's all i have as requests for now. |
| ff6shadow09-27-06, 10:33 PM | Definitly with the Weapon master and Ghostwalker. |
| ank09-27-06, 10:36 PM | I Have another vote for the dragon disciple. I love the idea, but 10 levels seems a little unbalanced for essentially a +3 level adjustment you could take initially. By the same measure, the dragon devotee from races of the dragon could have a look too, but it is not so pressing as the dragon disciple. |
| Mitchell09-27-06, 10:53 PM | I would like to take a closer look at: 1) Dragon disciple. 2) Warmind. I would like to see a new version of: 1) Deepwood sniper. |
| HalifaxDM09-27-06, 10:58 PM | because i know it will be said: OozeMaster. and for myself, i would like to see the weaponmaster updated. I second that |
| ruff012609-27-06, 11:03 PM | forsaker needs to be look at and updated to 3.5 and something I always played in AD&D was a dwarven sharpshooting trouble shooter(two seperate kits) an almost honorable dwarven thief that could fit in the dwarven military structure , it was awsome :) ahh memories |
| dn3walker09-27-06, 11:24 PM | I'd love to see the Elder Druid from Paizo's Dragon Magazine redone for 3.5. |

I've omitted most controversial ones (like those that say they wish for an update of a current class, or those who wish for a review of a non-current class) or placed them in their appropriate categories until noted otherwise. Also, material from Book of Exalted Deeds was omitted, because unlike Book of Vile Darkness, it is current edition, not 3.0. For the update, it's a tie between the Deepwood Sniper and the Ghostwalker, and Dragon Disciple is on top for the Spotlight. -Shadow Mage |
| Seerow09-27-06, 11:29 PM | So many requests for Weapon Master, why? It was already updated. Sure it wasn't quite the same class, but EWM is clearly listed as the 3.5 update of the 3.0 Weapon Master. |
| shadow mage09-27-06, 11:49 PM | Ok, reformatting complete, only thing I need to do is abbreviate the sources as best as I can, include an index at the bottom, and keep it up to date with new posts/votes. I'll recount them now, just to be sure. Seerow, I believe the problem is the Exotic Weapon Master isn't anything like the old Weaponmaster; remotely, even. The Psychic Weapon Master, on the other hand, is extremely well done, and should be the model for a non-psionic version. I can see why so many voted for it, and do rather enjoy the thought of a current version, even though it shares many similarities with the Kensai. -Shadow Mage |
| rockfall2209-28-06, 12:27 AM | I want to see a 3.5 update of the Ghostwalker. Oh, and the Master of Chains was cool. Somehow the exotic weapon master doesn't have the same punch as a master of chains... |
| anduaramurt09-28-06, 04:00 AM | I'm gonna have to add another vote for Ghostwalker. That may be the single coolest PRC ever. As for spotlights, how about showing some love for Tome of Magic? Hell, Truenamers don't even get a prestige class in their own book. I think there are probably quite a few people who agree that this book needs some more support from Wizards. |
| khellendros46009-28-06, 05:29 AM | The Incantatrix from Magic of Faerun was a really good Prestige Class as i recall. The Warhulk from the Miniatures Handbook was pretty neat. The Chosen of Mystra Template from the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting would be a good Prestige Class, say for an arcane caster of some type. The Shade Template would also make a good Prestige Class, it too is from the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting book, perhaps for anyone who is playing a rogue character. The Saint Template form the Book of Exalted Deeds could also be a good choice for a Prestige Class, this could be an excellent choice for either a Paladin or a Cleric. I realize the last three were originally templates, but perhaps they can be made into Prestige Classes of some sort. |
| Razz09-28-06, 08:09 AM | So many requests for Weapon Master, why? It was already updated. Sure it wasn't quite the same class, but EWM is clearly listed as the 3.5 update of the 3.0 Weapon Master. Well what I don't understand is why it can't be used the way it is? That PrC actualy needs no tweaking at all and works the best of all 3.0 PrC. It was done twice, in fact. Once in Sword&Fist and again in Oriental Adventures (known as Kensei). And no, I don't think the Exotic Weapon Master and Weapon Master are the same, mechanics wise. |
| elondir09-28-06, 08:44 AM | I would like to see Master of Chains, Lasher, or some interesting Fochlucan Lyrist combos that do things like wizard/cleric spell progressions instead of bard/druid progressions, or a path to it that doesn't leave you treading water until 15th level. Oh, and deepwood sniper kicked butt. And don't change them much for an update. Just stick them as-is in a PrC compendium so they become "official" and usable in the various "Living" campaigns! They don't need to be nerfed when there are Radiant Servants of Pelor running around. |
| edventure09-28-06, 10:06 AM | Count me in for Lasher and Master of chains. |
| Pojo09-28-06, 10:58 AM | Master of Many forms. Just to see what are the most effective creatures to become at each level. To make it easier to use in actual game play. WHat I have incountered when watching others play this prestige class is a slow down in the game as they tried to decide what to turn into. Having a list of the most effective creatures would be helpful. |
| Pyke_Moonshadow09-28-06, 11:53 AM | Please no exotic weapon prestige classes, ugh they are so nearly useless and they have the EWM that covers them. I was always a fan of the Myrmidon kit and the Blade kit. |
| shadow mage09-28-06, 12:38 PM | I would like to see... some interesting Fochlucan Lyrist combos that do things like wizard/cleric spell progressions instead of bard/druid progressions, or a path to it that doesn't leave you treading water until 15th level... Hm. While I adore the Fochlucan Lyrist, one has to consider the premise behind the prestige class. It's designed for diverse backgrounds, and as a final compilation of all of those mixed abilities, and the continued growth of all of those abilities. The premise is that simple (and, alternatively, that inherently complicated mechanically); this same premise forces it to be a late-level prestige class, though. My prefered Lyrist build does't have Bard at all (Rilken Rogue Substitution from Magic of Incarnum), or only one level of it, with Sorcerer gaining the "+1 Arcane Spellcasting level" in both cases (though I kept Druid because of the awesome spell list). Similarly, there have been several versions that don't boost either Bard or Druid, but some other combination like you've mentioned. Along similar (though exaggerated) lines is the Void Incarnate. As a Rogue, melee is a dangerous place to be (even when built very carefully), and especially at higher levels when enemies can hit for the insane amounts of damage they're known for in high-level adventures/campaigns. However, once into epic, and able to take the Void Incarnate prestige class, the Rogue character becomes flat fearsome. It's the same idea with the Fochlucan Lyrist; they spend their early-mid careers surviving, at mid-high begin to show that strut (roughly 12th-15th level, depending on the build), and at high levels display their true colors and dominate in multiple fields. To return to the topic, I'm beginning to think Sword and Fist as a whole needs an update (a decision I'd fully support, might I add). Split into books, it's received (by far) the most votes, with Master's of the Wild in second, and Tome and Blood the third highest (a whopping 45 votes, 29 votes, and 15 votes, respectively). Still keeping the list updated (how current it is will be displayed under the "reasons for edit" area), so this will save me from having to make overly many posts consisting of "updated" or somesuch. Unless I have something to say. Like this post. -Shadow Mage |
| Jhaelen09-28-06, 02:22 PM | Well what I don't understand is why it can't be used the way it is? That PrC actualy needs no tweaking at all and works the best of all 3.0 PrC.Umm, wasn't weapon master the prestige class that got a doubled crit range and multiplier? That's why the prestige class no longer exists in 3.5 - 3.5 got rid of the insane stacking crit range improvements you could get in 3.0. So there is no way you can use it as it was - it would be clearly unbalanced! But I agree that an update would be nice - if there is a way to create a balanced one - because the exotic weapon master is something completely different. |
| Wolf_Boy09-28-06, 03:36 PM | Lasher would be awesome |
| debolt09-28-06, 04:19 PM | I'd like to see more on the Dragon Disciple, as I have a half orc Sorcerer whose gonna go down that path. #1 Choice Or maybe Knight of the Chalice for my Paladin. Or what about the Archmage for my Wizard(evocation). How about Frenzied Berserker for my Barbarian. Those jus happen to be my fav PrC's. |
| AkaKageWarrior09-28-06, 04:24 PM | ... Alternatively, providing a list of 3.0 prestige classes which are perfectly fine to be used in 3.5 would be welcome, too - especially if each class has a short paragraph elaborating on why it's still perfectly fine :) that'sa simple and very good idea! AKW |
| aelryinth09-28-06, 04:30 PM | I would like to see the most asked for melee PrC's simply ripped apart, disposed of, and their class abilities boiled down into feats spaced out for a core class. In other words, less PrC's, more feat paths and high level feats. ===Aelryinth |
| thaylok09-28-06, 04:58 PM | Being a Bard fan, I'd love to see all of those from the Bard Kit updated. Blades Bard, comes to mind. |
| Razz09-28-06, 05:49 PM | Umm, wasn't weapon master the prestige class that got a doubled crit range and multiplier? That's why the prestige class no longer exists in 3.5 - 3.5 got rid of the insane stacking crit range improvements you could get in 3.0. So there is no way you can use it as it was - it would be clearly unbalanced! But I agree that an update would be nice - if there is a way to create a balanced one - because the exotic weapon master is something completely different. Actually, Sean K. Reynolds had a rather lengthy, but detailed, explanation on his website that said it wasn't unbalanced for the stacking. Not that I allow it in my games, but with this prestige class I do. Also, it's a PrC, I doubt a PrC where you can stack a critical range at like 7th level (meaning you'd have to be pretty darn devoted to the PrC) is broken. Oh, and to further back up Sean K. Reynold's facts about the crit range and critical hits, my players rarely, if ever, score a critical hit. It's too rare. And when they do get a critical threat, they always fail the confirmation roll. Goes to show ya crits really weren't that common and WotC just freaked out from the few D&D groups that said they were common. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WEAPON MASTER ---A prestige class that infuses your ki and perfects your skill with one single weapon. ---10 levels ---Automatically deal max damage 1/day/level with chosen weapon ---Increase critical multiplier by 1 1/day and up to 5/day at 10th level (not really broken, it's limited per day) ---Superior Weapon Focus (ooh, +1 more attack with chosen weapon) ---Superior Combat Reflexes (better hope Wisdom modifier is high, rare with melee characters, or else it's not as effective) ---Ki Critical (get Improved Critical feat for free, and if you have it, then increase threat range by +2, hardly broken since it's a 7th-level PrC ability) ---Ki Whirlwind Plus the PrC is nice in that it's nostalgic with the Kensei from the original OA. :D EXOTIC WEAPON MASTER ---A prestige class that lets you do funky tricks with exotic weapons ---3 levels ---Perform tricks and feats with exotic weapons you have Weapon Focus in ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Clear difference between the two prestige classes. Nothing alike. And WotC has stated previously that if the PrC didn't already receive an update yet then it was either fine the way it was or needed a little tweaking. Though, of course, PrC such as Forsaker was obvious about it not working at all in 3.5 the way they are, but such PrC were rare to be seen in 3.0 |
| Cataluna09-28-06, 06:13 PM | I'm going to put in another vote for the Candle Caster... I always loved the flavor on that one, but never got to play it. :D |
| TheMagus09-28-06, 07:15 PM | I would love to see official updates for Veth and Darkhagard. They are specific to Greyhawk, but it is still my favorite setting. Besides the concepts are really nice, but the 3.0 versions don't work well for 3.5 In terms of discussing an existing class: Rage Mage. Even with the errata it can be very confusing and dependent on DM rulings. |
| shadow mage09-28-06, 07:44 PM | Umm, wasn't weapon master the prestige class that got a doubled crit range and multiplier? That's why the prestige class no longer exists in 3.5 - 3.5 got rid of the insane stacking crit range improvements you could get in 3.0. So there is no way you can use it as it was - it would be clearly unbalanced! So clearly this was one of the defining features of the 3.5 pretige class on the Wizard's website called Psychic Weapon Master, right? Unbalanced. Clearly. -Shadow Mage |
| ss3_link009-28-06, 07:52 PM | Classes I would like to see updated: deepwood sniper gladiator master samurai weapon master Classes I would like to see an article over are dwarven defender arcane archer warpriest dragonslayer assassin dragon disciple |
| NineInchNall09-28-06, 07:54 PM | I'd like to see a series of articles dealing with classes (both base and prestige) that are often (wrongly) considered unbalanced. My brother and I, for example, have just had to scrap our characters because the DM thinks ToB is unbalanced. This is really not cool. Potential candidates include: Psionic classes in general. Just remember to credit Bacris. Crusader, Swordsage, & Warblade. Fochlucan Lyrist. Ur-priest. Arcane Hierophant. |
| NineInchNall09-28-06, 07:56 PM | And wasn't the stacking crit range thing quite thoroughly defended as necessary for balance in concrete mathematical terms by Sean Reynolds? Hmm. |
| ZeronHitaro09-28-06, 08:46 PM | I'd like to see a redo of the article a while back that showed varriations of the Pyrokineticist from XPH. Just "renaming" the abilities is a very sloppy and lazy method of getting "variety", if you can even call it that. I'd like to see something that separates a Pyro PrC from a Cyro PrC, besides the name. Different abilities for each varriation would be nice just to toss an idea out. |
| Razz09-28-06, 09:23 PM | And wasn't the stacking crit range thing quite thoroughly defended as necessary for balance in concrete mathematical terms by Sean Reynolds? Hmm. My point exactly. |
| mrbiohazard09-28-06, 10:59 PM | It will bee nice to update the seeker of song beceause the class is someking not very well explain with somme obscure rule and the bard is the black sheep of the class :D |
| Aryxbez09-28-06, 11:17 PM | What I would like to see updated: 1. gladiator 2.master of Chains 3.Ghost walker 4.Lasher 5.Warmaster 6.Weaponmaster 7.Especially the Devoted Defender,(sword and fist) 8.Master Samurai 9.Deepwood Sniper 10.Rage Mage |
| shadow mage09-29-06, 12:13 AM | NineInchNall, couldn't really include "Psionics" as a category; if it was a legitimate option, the "poll" from WotC wouldn't just be about Prestige Classes, would it? I know nothing of Tome of Battle, though, so the Swordsage and friends were included (assuming they're legitimate options). Aryxbez, Rage Mage is current (in Complete Warrior). Can't include that, but the rest of the list is gravy. Not surprised, but Ghostwalker and Dragon Disciple are still on top. Hell, at this point, an artical that literally updates Sword and Fist might be an honest option, considering the votes from prestige classes in there. Sounds like the 3.0 Splatbooks rock hard. ;) -Shadow Mage |
| gamebuddha09-29-06, 12:43 AM | I love the Verdant Lord presige class, and really think it should be updated to v3.5. This class is great because it broadens the options a druid has, who's love for plants is greater than for the animals. There are a lot of prestige classes out there that give the druid a nice twist, but most concentrate on the druid's shape-change ability. A tip for anyone upgrading this class: don't use the infusions (the plant/natural version of potions) it makes things complicated and lower the requirements slightly so you would be able to enter it at lev 6 or 7. Another prestige class i'd love see updated is the Deepwood Sniper. I know alot of you agree with me and have posted a request already. I wish to say that this class is the best archer prestige class ever! And it is one of the few prestige classes that answers well to the sniping desire alot of you feel. Right now this class it's too powerful and needs some fine- and downtuning. It has some great ideas about increasing the crit. range and multiplier, those should definitely stay! *Go people, vote sniper!* |
| Korangar09-29-06, 02:10 AM | GHOST...WALKER!!! and the over-looked, Outlaw of the Crimson Road, both those classes need an update. Now on to the matter of expanded classes, maybe the assassin. |
| Rnd09-29-06, 05:47 AM | PrC/Kits, which I would like to see updated 1* 2ed Kits: Kits from "Guide To Hell" * DevilSlayer * Thamathurgist * HellBlade 2* 3.0 Prestige Classes: Prestige Classes from "Savage Species" (this book has many other good PrC/templates which should be converted to 3.5 also) * Survivor * Illithid Savant Prestige Classes from old splatbooks; * OozeMaster * DeepWood Sniper * Forsaker * Candle Caster Prestige Classes from "Book Of Vile Darkness": * Cancer Mage * Disciple Of [ArchDevil Name] * Thrall Of [DemonLord Name] And about Shifter, and Master Transmogrifist. They "updates" (about changed Wild Shape etc.) should be put in errata ("Complete Adventurer" and "Complete Arcane"). |
| dutch20609-29-06, 08:12 AM | Just for the record, wasn't the Oozemaster prestiege class updated in the appendix of "Player's Guide to Faerun". That book is a 3.5 update I think they changed the name of the class to Slime Lord, though. |
| Argali09-29-06, 02:36 PM | Oozemaster and Thrall of Juiblex. |
| Need_A_Life09-29-06, 03:50 PM | Candlecaster Forsaker And a version of Illithid Savant that doesn't cry "abuse" to the skies. |
| GimliGloinson09-29-06, 04:10 PM | I would like to see updates of the Gnome Artificer and Master Alchemist from Magic of Faerun. As far as just greater detail on a prestige class, I wouldn't mind seeing some examples of Chameleon characters. |
| Talok09-29-06, 05:25 PM | I would like to see more info on the assassain, particularly a non-evil variant of the class and some nifty death attack feats. An epic progression would be nice as well. I would also love to see the ninja of the crescent moon, weapon master, and master samurai updated to 3.5. |
| Pugnar09-29-06, 06:02 PM | The Weaponmaster needs an update, as does the Ghost Walker and Gnome Artificer  |
| dutch20609-29-06, 07:43 PM | Hmmm....How about a prestiege class that will give me a +5 bonus to remebering all of these prestiege classes? |
| Diideral09-29-06, 09:17 PM | ... and most definitely updating the Elven Archer from the Complete Book of Elves, 2ed. Loved his range ability even without any melee ability. totally second that!! and the deepwood sniper needs fixin...keen and improved crit don't stack...useless |
| gomibako_ninja09-29-06, 11:50 PM | For updates, yeah, lasher. And blade dancer from oriental adventures, that prc rocked. For articles...hmm...drunken master would be a fun one, and I think there should be an article on not-quite-full progression mage PrCs, like blood magus etc., and why they should/shouldn't be used. |
| shadow mage09-30-06, 12:58 AM | Rnd, left out the Thrall of/Disciple of prestige classes, because I have no idea what they are. I don't have access to the book. For updates, Ghostwalker remains 1st (Deepwood Sniper and Weaponmaster both just behind and tied for second), and for the spotlight article Dragon Disciple remains 1st. Mwahaha. Go Clint Eastw-... erm, Ghostwalker! -Shadow Mage |
| Drow_Paladin09-30-06, 09:21 AM | The Arch Psion, hands down. it is a niche that has to be filled for everyform of magic or psionics. |
| Razz09-30-06, 10:02 AM | Noooo why is FORSAKER losing!?! I've been waiting months for them to update them! NOOOO!!! :banghead: |
| Ashe09-30-06, 01:16 PM | Myself I love to play the new binder from tome of magic I would love to see more prestige classes for that. |
| Shadowblade200009-30-06, 01:38 PM | Id really like to see dragon disciple. Lasher and Tempest would be appreciated too. |
| Talok09-30-06, 03:11 PM | Come on people, show some more love for the assassain. It is, after all, the most commonly used PrC in all of the adventures I have seen. Who doesn't want to play an assassain? |
| Shaddris09-30-06, 03:47 PM | Arcane Hierophant (RotW) 3.5 1. Only other dual spell progression class 2. Encourages much discussion, especialy on the wild shape ability :hides: 3. Adds good flavor to the away from civilization campains 4. Needs clarification on some rules |
| Hercule_Longfist09-30-06, 05:18 PM | I would definintely like to see the Ghostwalker from Sword and Fist, updated/improved for 3.5. |
| Hercule_Longfist09-30-06, 05:23 PM | The Ghostwalker doesn't have to modeled to just that one Western movie, It also emmulates Vash from the anime Trigun. |
| Nightblade10-01-06, 03:25 AM | I would like to see a 3.5 Deepwood Sniper :) |
| Jhaelen10-01-06, 05:00 AM | And wasn't the stacking crit range thing quite thoroughly defended as necessary for balance in concrete mathematical terms by Sean Reynolds? Hmm. Well, the 3.0 ruling that the doubling of critical ranges from any sources were stacking WAS unbalanced, quite clearly so, in fact: Starting with a range of 18-20, the improved critical feat, a keen weapon and buff spells/powers it was EASY to get to a 12-20 range, i.e. almost a 50% chance per attack. Additionally, time doesn't stand still: Now, in 3.5 we have feats, class abilities, spells and powers that increase the chance of CONFIRMING criticals. On top of that, there's action points which are (thanks to Eberron) widely in use. This translates into almost every critical threat to actually become a critical! So, I sincerely doubt, that reintroducing the stacking of critical ranges will be balanced, regardless of what (or when!) Mr. Reynolds wrote about this. Still, I'm not known for being stubborn about my opinion if convincing evidence is given that my view is wrong. A link to the respective article by Mr. Reynolds would be greatly appreciated. |
| SquirrelMortis10-01-06, 08:27 AM | Please, please, PLEASE make the CANDLE CASTER (tome and Blood) 3.5 |
| lpkaoken10-01-06, 11:17 AM | I would like to see a review of the Drunken Master or the Kensai (both from CW) |
| blindcynic10-01-06, 11:58 AM | Hi all, I am gamer that goes way back. I liked the 2E kits that most people don't remember or weren't around for. Kudos to those of you that mentioned the Bard's handbook! 2E kits- Warden (Rangers handbook) Cool idea NEEDS to be expanded on. Battle-rager (Dwarves handbook) Seriously why hasn't FR gotten around to an updated one? Myrmidon (Fighter's handbook) This class was all about a mercenary sort of fighter character. I think the utility of this class would put it in the next DMG. Remember it's ability to get more money for jobs!? Blade (Bard's handbook) Basically similar to an invisible blade, but more charismatic and flexible, with less combat options but spells, weapon proficiency swords (all) etc. Elven Amathaur (Cormanthyr) These characters are constantly mentioned in many of the books. They have war mage similarities but also paladin like virtues...The kit in the book should be expanded on. 3.0 Weapon Master (it's essential, why? because their should be a class for the fighter to go to that allows him to continue specializing in that weapon!) It's a very niched concept, especially in fantasy but not limited to it. 3.5 I think it is essential for WoC to come up with PRC's that do the following: Arcane caster w/ multiple familiars Spellcaster specializing in Conjuring creatures (The Dwarven Defender? Excellent racial class right? Where is a similar one for the gnome, halfling, or half orc?) Mounted PRC Someone who can ride all those various mounts out there with cool bonuses but doesn't have to be a paladin or Druid. |
| yarethon10-01-06, 02:26 PM | lahser ( sword and fist) devoted defender ( sword and fist) depwood sniper ( masters of the wild) would be welcomed to a 3,5 revision |
| cornweld10-01-06, 03:19 PM | My favorite prestige class and one I would like to see updated to 3.5 is the Mighty Contender of Kord from Dragon 283, but any of the deity specific prestiges would be welcomed. |
| pukunui10-01-06, 03:39 PM | (or even a 2nd edition kit) you would like to see converted to 3.5! I'd love to see the blade bard kit from the 2e Complete Bard's Handbook updated as a 3.5 PrC. My favorite character of all time was a hybrid 2e/3e blade bard. He was an assassin/diplomat. Way cool. |

It's 3.0, but it can be easily converted. |
| ChrisFontenot1310-02-06, 08:07 PM | I joined the forums just to vote for my all time favorite class: update the Anatomist kit from the old 2nd edition Necromancer's Handbook! The "Dr. Frankenstein" character kit was amazing: It was a Victorian era character, with bonuses to healing skills and the ability to use Renaissance-style weapons such as cutlass or rapier. The character gained specialization in the knife because of the kit requirement: The character had to dissect a humanoid corpse every month to represent his continued study! Gruesome and loads of fun, possible to play good, neutral or evil variants of the character and bound to get into trouble with the local authorities no matter what. Something about the experimental flesh golems, half golems and aberrations... My idea was to give them precision damage abilities based on Knowledge checks or on which creatures they've dissected, and a martial proficiency in Renaisssance weapons, with maybe some tweaked spellcasting, Skill Focus in Healing and Craft Construct and/or Graft Flesh. I've had a lot of ideas for updating it and would love to see the pros take a crack at it. C'mon guys! We'll bring the pitchforks and torches, you bring out the Anatomist! |
| shadow mage10-03-06, 12:19 PM | I've updated my little poll (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10208546&postcount=100), and it looks like Deepwood Sniper is now tied with Ghostwalker for the update (with Weaponmaster one small vote behind), and Dragon Disciple still reigns for the spotlight. Which is all cool. I'm rather surprised at the results, up to this point; honestly thought to see more caster/druid oriented classess/prestige classes come up. -Shadow Mage |
| relentless9610-06-06, 05:45 AM | When races of Eberron was released, it updated the Shifter race with new options for what traits they could have. It would be good to see new animal selections for the Weretouched Master such as the bull or rhino, bats or birds, even sharks (there is an aquatic version). At least, I would really like to see it :) |
| Gurug10-07-06, 10:55 PM | I'd like to see articles on the Assassin and Dragon Disciple (DMG). A list of 3.0 PrCs that work fine in 3.5 was a really good idea too. I was curious if there were other prestige classes like the Assassin? The really stealthy killer kind. |
| shadow mage10-08-06, 12:27 AM | To which I refer you, Gurug, to the Prestige Class Index (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/prc). Good thing to have around, very handy. Another good link is Chet Erez's Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Edition Index - Prestige Classes (http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Classes-Prestige.pdf) (in handy .pdf format). The first link is the WotC list, very general; the latter link is the one I prefer to use, might even sig it eventually... Anyway, yes there are other classes that fulfill a similar role, none (in my opinion) as good or as well-rounded as the Assassin. Good to see more love for the Assassin by the way. -Shadow Mage |
| Ariath Ska'Vhor10-08-06, 12:48 AM | I would deffinetly like to see the classes from the BoVD updated. Especially the thralls and disciples. |
| castlemike10-20-06, 04:05 PM | I would like to see an article on the Shair more based on the original like the Shaman than the Dragon article. |
| Need_A_Life10-20-06, 04:16 PM | 2E Wild Mage updated to current rules Just to compare with the one I've recently made. |
| castlemike10-20-06, 04:24 PM | 2E Wild Mage updated to current rules Just to compare with the one I've recently made. In case you are not of aware of it there is the Wild Magist PRC update in Complete Arcane which has a lot of flavor of the old. |

If Keen and Improved Critical Don't Stack, The Terrorists Will Have Won (http://www.seankreynolds.com/rpgfiles/rants/keenimprovedcritstacking.html) is a two part rant. I've linked to the first part. The article itself includes a link to the statistical analysis of the weapons' damage output. |
| tiejaz03-16-07, 04:12 PM | Call me dull, but I'd like to see an article on the Eldritch Knight. Some comments on their balance and playability would be interesting, especially if you can drop in some comparisons to other caster/fighter PrCs like the bladesinger and spellsword. One word: Duskblade. |
| TheDarkWolf06-17-07, 07:45 PM | I would like to see more of the 2nd edition kits updated into PrCs. They added a lot of flavor. Most of the bard kits were superb. So my vote goes to convering the Blade and Gallant kits to 3.5 PrC's. I second that.. and I also Second the Elven Archer! |
