12-11-05, 04:09 PM For the SpellThief from CompleteAdventurer and for the DandD 3.5 rpg with any campaign, what are the minimum ability scores that I need to be a 1st level SpellThief? I like the spellthief class to a maximum of 20th level and I want to know if I can always have an 8 charisma or at the highest, always a 10 charisma while being a spellthief at 20th level?

Sure, you can have an 8 or 10 in charisma, but you will never be able to use Spellthief spells. You would have to rely solely on what you steal from other people.

You could be a Sorceror with 4 Cha. You just can't cast spells.

12-12-05, 11:21 AM Wait, I read the SpellThief-class game rule information, and it is printed that charisma is used to determine the spells that are known, but to cast magic spells, it doesn't have charisma as a required minimum score of 10 plus the level of the spell. Am I missing something or am I correct? With an 8 or 10 charisma, is there any way that I can steal magic spell power and then cast it however I want?

Yes, I understand that I can play a first level PC with a starting charisma of 8 or 10 using the low-power campaign option, but what about if I am a PC whose maximum character level is 20, and I want to stay with a charisma score of 8 or 10 for all of my life--is that allowed by DandD 3.5 rules? In other words, I don't have to increase any of my ability scores as I progress in levels?

12-12-05, 11:41 AM You can.. WHY you would want to I don't know. But yes, you could keep a low Cha score your entire career, just cannot cast any spells due to it.

Yes, it is allowed, but it is not advisable. If you do that, you will never be able to cast any spellthief spells (you require a minimum of 14 to cast high level spellthief spells). The only spells you would be able to use would be whatever you are able to steal from enemies (which depending on your campaign could be tons or very very few).
