Trance Kuja 12-12-05, 03:02 PM	Does the DN's charnel touch require a standard action to activate or does it function like the liches touch attack and deal its damage even when they cast touch attack spells and deal unarmed strikes. Example: Krelian a 3rd level DN casts inflict light wounds, hitting with an unarmed strike while wearing a +1 gauntlet dealing 1d3+1 + str and 1d8+3 from the ILW. Does he also deal his 1d8 from charnel touch or does it require a standard action to activate and thus could only be delivered as a melee touch attack or unarmed strike.
Satori 12-12-05, 03:59 PM	I don't have the book in front of me, but I'm fairly certain that Charnel Touch is a Spell-Like ability that requires a standard action to use. I do believe that stacking a touch spell with Charnel Touch would be against RAW, but I'm not sure. You did bring up a really good idea, though...the DN is really like a self-renewing "Inflict" cleric with that ability. A little house-ruling to make Ascetic Mage work for DN, a few levels of Monk, and you've got a hard hitting touch attacker! Of course, the BAB will be next to none...but its a work in progress!

Trance Kuja 12-12-05, 07:36 PM	Charnel Touch isn't a spell-like abilitity it is a supernatural ability and essentially grows as you level into the Lich's supernatural touch ability but with more power and options by the end.
RhammidarigaazX 12-14-05, 02:33 AM	Here have a look supernatural ability Supernatural abilities are magical and go away in an antimagic field but are not subject to spell resistance. Supernatural abilities cannot be dispelled. Using a supernatural ability is a standard action unless noted otherwise and generally does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Supernatural abilities may have a use limit or be usable at will, just like spell-like abilities. However, supernatural abilities do not provoke attacks of opportunity and never require Concentration checks. Unless otherwise noted, a supernatural ability has an effective caster level equal to the creature's Hit Dice. The saving throw (if any) against a supernatural ability is 10 + 1/2 the creature's HD + the creature's ability modifier (usually Charisma). Source: PHB, DMG, MM, MM3 The lich states that " A lich without natural weapons has a touch attack that deals 1d8+5 damage. If the lich has a natural weapon he may use that and add in the 1d8+5 damage." It also states that any time a lich hits with its touch attack it paralizes. no activation needed. its not "at will" but any time the touch attack damage is used. Please note that the lich IS noted otherwise while CT is not noted in any way. The touch attack is actualy a added natural attack and can be used as a secondary attack at -5 in a full attack action useing a sword and his touch (if he has a hand free) Also note that the touch attack is never listed as supernatural. Only as a special attack he can use only once per round.
