Your build looks fairly solid. Personally, I'd ditch the Ring of Protection and buy more spells known. EDIT: You don't get 3rd level spells until 5th level, by the way. And I'd replace Spell Mastery with Craft Wondrous Items or something.

and:

Whats his personality like? The RP?

actually I do get a lvl-3rd spell because my inteligence(sp) is high enough to gain 1 lvl-3 bonus spell.
Says so in the PHB 3.0

Says so in the PHB 3.0 Actually, you don't get 3rd level spells until 5th level. I understand that you have abonus spell, but thats irrelevant. If the Spells Per Day tables says "-," then you can't cast spells of that level.

BlaineTog is correct. Investing money into researching 3rd level spells is still a good way to prepare for the next level.
Since your AC is so puny, I'd ditch the ring too. Buy a cheap, useful wand or set of scrolls with the money, and rely on spells like Mage Armor and Shield to boost your AC.

Even better, put five feet of fighter between you and anyone who wants to take a whack at your AC.

ohh I see this is my first time playing a wizard character so i guess i made a mistake

Er.. There is something wrong.

1) you can't have 3rd level spells at 4th level. You don't get access to them until 5th level. (BTW bonus spells just means you can cast more of them, once you get access to them, NOT that you can cast them at anytime.)

2) why do you have maximize spell? you can't effectively use it until a much higher level. pick a feat that will help you survive until then.

3) Buy (or steal from a corpse) a dagger or something. 10 flasks of acid are great, but when they run out, you are seriously hosed.

4) why do you have scrolls for spells you haven't learned? You're a wizard, burn the scroll and put the spell in your spellbook.

Cheers. Good luck.

By the way, the best place to post your builds is here (http://quizilla.com/users/Moscatabaco/quizzes/What%20type%20of%20exalt%20are%20you), the Character Optimization Board. These people are masters of min/maxing.

But I think my other points are valid.

How do u put spells in your spellbook other than when gaining levels. This is my first time playing a wizard so i need help.

what i mean is can I buy a scroll and then write the scroll's writing in my Book and have the spell to cast even after I've used the scroll.

I always thought you could place higher level spells in your spellbook than you are capable of casting, even though you cant prepare or cast it until you actually have a listed spell per day of the said spell level. Given that the process of researching, understanding, and copying a spell in written form only requires sufficient ranks in spellcraft and likewise a spellcraft check to do so, even if you cannot actually cast it yet.

In 2nd edition players almost always copied higher level spells into their spellbook, so they could later use them, although if it is possible in 3rd edition it is not a very good use of money to scribe a spell you cant cast yet.

Copying spells to your spellbook is a spellcraft check...look it up under the skills section!

Keep the Ring. it Helps trust me.

but Ditch the Metamagic. it requres a +3 Slot. you can't use it yet (and a maximized Ray of Frost at 5-7th is not going do you much good)

as you seam to be going the charm person route, I would swap it for Highten Spell.

you might consider the Blur spell.

Just to clarify, if you have a scroll with a spell that is too high for you to cast, you can:

=>cast the spell from the scroll, with a really tough caster check
IIR, DC15+level of the spell
(i.e. DC for Wish is 15+9=24 versus 1d20+ your caster level which is 4 in this case) If you fail, you use up the scroll.

or

=>copy the spell into your spellbook with the appropriate spellcraft checks, if successful you use up the scroll in the process. (However, you still can't cast the spell, until your caster level is high enough to give you access to it.)

You don't have to write those scrolls to your spellbook at all. It can be more handy to keep them around and have them outside of your prepared list. It's no use burning them for your spell book - if you actually need to cast them in a given situation. You'll probably be able to retrieve others like it anyway.

I don't think you can actually pick spell mastery as a standard feat, it has to be a Wizard bonus feat - which you won't get till 5th.

I'd get create wand if you can... wonderous items can wait a level. Keep a loaded cross bow, and some bolts - flame arrow will help with that.

I assume 3.0 otherwise your familiar doesn't do that.

Blaine...your link is invalid and it refers to an irrelevant page.

Correct.Though you CAN cast spells right from the scroll even if you couldn't as a daily one...the only thing you need is the ability to decipher the scroll (spellcraft or read magic spell). Man...scrolls are a MUST for wizards.:D

Ignore that other one. Use this (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=339) one.

One more thing...you actually have access to several more first level spells than you show. According the PHB you begin with a number of 1st level spells in your spellbook equal to 3+your intelligence bonus (I believe...I don't have the book in front of me right now). Then you gain two more for your book at 2nd level. At 3rd and 4th I would assume you'd pick 2nd level spells, so you can have nominally eight 1st level spells in your spellbook (6 from 1st level, 2 from 2nd level) before you use any scrolls to add more spells to your book.

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding your notation, you've listed way more skill points than you can actually have. You list 54, with 13 in Spellcraft - you should have only 35, with no more than 7 in any one skill.
GD

07-01-04, 03:28 PM
I put 35 Because thats how much I have and then added the ability bonuses so I put 10 ranks in Spellcraft +3 Int Mod and so on for the rest of the spells

Ah, you were listing modifiers not ranks.

Still can't have more than 7 ranks in any single skill at level 4.

Might I also point out that if you just intend to copy a scroll into a spellbook, simply pay an NPC to let you read his spellbook. Per spell that comes to only (spell level)*50 instead of (spell level*caster level)*25...

DAWN: You're a Chosen of the Sun, and member of theDawn caste! You value power and the direct approach in everything, and like to be the one in charge. You respect strenght and initiative;as one of the bronze tigers, you never give up and love the feeling of adrenaline. A one of the chosen of the sun, you strive to reach perfection in all the areas of life and to develop yourself to the fullest. You'd better hold better control of those emotions, lest they betray you and leave you forsaken of those goals you tried to reach.

Where the hell did that come from....

Anyway... take either expertise and eschew materials

I hope it is 3.0 because in 3.5 you no longer get the +2 Con (Instead you get 3 HP) for a Toad Familiar (Isn't that Correct?)

Try its a written rule:

Spellbooks: A wizard must study her spellbook each day to prepare her spells. She cannot prepare any spell not recorded in her spellbook, except for read magic, which all wizards can prepare from memory.

A wizard begins play with a spellbook containing all 0-level wizard spells (except those from her prohibited school or schools, if any; see School Specialization, below) plus three 1st-level spells of your choice. For each point of Intelligence bonus the wizard has, the spellbook holds one additional 1st-level spell of your choice. At each new wizard level, she gains two new spells of any spell level or levels that she can cast (based on her new wizard level) for her spellbook. At any time, a wizard can also add spells found in other wizards’ spellbooks to her own.
