Hello everyone, I am new to the forums :). I have been playing D&D for a little while now and still a little new to some concept of the game. What I want to ask is something about the Chronomancer class from the Magic d20 book and the Magus prestige class from "Star Magic-Wisdom of the Magi" from the Encyclopedia of Arcana. 1. These classes are from the 3.0 version of the game and I have only played the 3.5 version of the game. Can these classes still be used? I asked my friend's and they said they can, but the classes have to be tweaked to be able to play with the 3.5 version. Which is easy since the only thing that must be tweaked is the classes skills. 2. For those who have read both books, can you tell me if it is possible for the classes in the Magic manual to be able to take the prestige classes from Star magic manual and vice versa? Thank you for the info and help.:)

Generally, DMs rule that 3.0 version material is usable in 3.5 ed, unless it has been updated. Therefore, your classes can still be used as long as you update the appropriate bits.

Yes, you should be ok to take the classes from one 'splat book' and the prestige classes from another, provided your DM is ok with that, and your character meets the prerequisites. I haven't read the Magic d20 book, though I have read the Star Magic book, so it looks like as long as your Chronomancer can cast arcane spells of 4th level or higher and learns appropriate stars, you should be able to.

Yes, the Chronomancer is capable of learning learn all arcane spells. Just like the Wizard since they get all their spells from the Wizards spellbook along with their own Chronomancy spells. The only thing that might prevent the Chronomancer from being a Magus presitge class is that they cannot speclialize in any magic. I can make him an Astrologer, Guardian of the stars, or Tribal Shaman instead however.
