| caroak08-30-05, 11:41 PM | Hi, i'm new here and I was wondering if someone could help or facilitate me the info on chronomancers, cause I want my character to be one, any help is welcome :) |
| Mirikon08-31-05, 12:09 AM | There was an old 3.0 third party supplement all about Chronomancy. It was in the Encyclopedia Arcane series, with the ingenious title of 'Chronomancy' if I recall correctly. |

| caroak08-31-05, 10:52 AM | mmm, I'll find in that book everything I need about the chronomancer class? |
| Oulak08-31-05, 01:58 PM | It is by Mongoose Publishing and it is in the Encyclopedia Arcane series and titled Chronomancy: The Power of Time. Awesome book. Theres still acopy at my local hobby shop for sale, so it might still be in print. Check the Mongoose website to be sure. A lot of DM's might have a problem with it though, just for gameflow reasons if nothing else (Ritual Chronomancy can be time consuming in game) . I used that book as a tool to design the Chronomancer PrC that I posted in the Prestige Classes thread on these boards. LinkHERE (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=492874) Honestly though, get the book! |
| Shotgun_badger08-31-05, 11:52 PM | Yea I love the whole encyclopedia arcane series, but chronomancy and chaos are my favorites. Though your DM may totaly outlaw the chronomancy set due to the fact you can REALLY mess your DM's plans up at higher levels (not that I would do something as evil as that just to PO my DM :schemes: |
| babysamurai09-01-05, 05:21 AM | Get the original AD&D 2nd edition accessory called "the Chronomancer", not some shoddy Mongoose product. |
| Oulak09-01-05, 11:51 AM | Get the original AD&D 2nd edition accessory called "the Chronomancer", not some shoddy Mongoose product. Know where we can find this? I looked on the downloads and only found a snippet of info. |
| babysamurai09-01-05, 12:01 PM | Know where we can find this? I looked on the downloads and only found a snippet of info. It had a short print run and is a much sought after product. Your best bet is ebay, it shoudn't be too expensive (it's worth it). |

| babysamurai09-02-05, 05:39 AM | hmmm never heard of it before, how is it better then the Mongoose? For one thing, the way they treat the plane of time, well actually, it's more of a dimension called "Temporal Prime" that permeates all Planes. So, if you reach Temporal Prime from the Nine Hells, you would be able to reach a limitless number of alternate Hell timelines (Future, past, alternate present etc). It also tells you how to integrate Temporal Prime and Chronomancers with the various campaign settings (Greyhawk, Krynn, Dark Sun, Forgotten Realms etc). Oh, and the spells from the school of Chronomancy are killer. There is a lot more, but I also just remembered it has three character classes: Chronomancer (wizard type), Temporal Champion (fighter type), Temporal Raider (rogue type). Hope that helps. |
| Danastes09-02-05, 06:36 AM | I loved the original AD&D 2nd edition accessory called "the Chronomancer", and have adapted the class as a prestige class. While i have not fully converted all the spells (nor do i have them on the net) i do have my version of the Chronomancy Prestige Class (http://www.shatteredfractine.com/prestige/chronomancer.html) One of these lonely days i will convert those spells and post them on the web. |

| Master of shaarat'khesh09-02-05, 03:43 PM | Know where we can find this? I looked on the downloads and only found a snippet of info. ebay is good, as someone else mentioned and also, you might try comic book stores and gaming stores that buy used gaming books. I had the module when it originally came out and ended up selling it. I always hated that I did that and was thumbing through some used gaming books at a local gaming store and found an almost mint condition one. I bought it for only $3. It is a very worthwhile module for running an unusual and different type of character. It also converts fairly easily to 3.5. I highly recommend it |
| caroak09-03-05, 12:20 PM | I read the "Chronomancer" from Oulak it's awesome, although I have some questions. These are the things I didnt understand: Spells per Day/Spells Known: When a new chronomancer level is gained, the character gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in whatever arcane spellcasting class in which he could cast 5th level spells before he added the prestige class level. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (bonus Metamagic or item creation feats, and so on). Of a character had more than one arcane spellcasting class in which he could cast 5th level spells before he became a chronomancer, he must decide to which class he adds each level of chronomancer for the purpose of determining spells per day. Chronomancy Specialist: The approach a chronomancer takes to his specialization is vastly different than that of a normal specialist, and this is reflected in the following ways. Chronomancers enjoy a +2 bonus to research a spell with the [Chronomancy] descriptor; a +2 bonus to Spellcraft checks involving such spells; and casts these spells at +1 caster level. He also adds Augury, Divination, Modify Memory, and Revanance to his arcane spell list. If these spells are new to his list, they are cast as a spell of 1 level higher (i.e. Augury is a 3rd level spell). Because of the mental strain of trying to sort out what is truly happening in time and what is capable of happening – or capable of already having happened, the chronomancer permanently loses 2 points of Wisdom. Lose Spell: Through the trials of exploring and gaining mastery over time, the chronomancer trades some of his spell casting abilities for a higher calling. The chronomancer permanently eliminates a spell slot of the given level. If the chronomancer doesn’t have an eligible slot of the given level (his previous class was a bard for instance), the progression begins anew, but at the rate of two spell level slots per level. A 13th level Bard/8th level Chronomancer would lose a 0 level and 1st level spell slot, and if he took another level of chronomancer, he would lose a 2nd level and 3rd level spell slot. Suppress Time (Sp): Through study and experimenting with the manipulation of the fabric of time, the chronomancer awakens in such a way that he can suppress the time around him. The chronomancer doubles all movement rates, including ones gained through magical means (such as the Fly spell, or the burrow ability from an altered form) for as many rounds as half his chronomancer class level. These do not have to be consecutive rounds, and can be allotted as the chronomancer sees fit throughout the day. Improved Metamagic: All spells used in conjunction with any Metamagic feat from the chronomancer’s bonus feats list are cast at one spell level lower. For instance, a quickened Magic Missile spell is prepared as a 4th level spell (1st level naturally, +4 for quickening, -1 for Improved Metamagic). A spell always has at least a +1 spell level when altered with any metamagic feat from the chronomancers bonus feat list. A Sorcerer or Bard gains the ability to quicken a spell 3 times per day without any penalties to casting time, although they must have the Quicken Spell feat. And the whole thing about true time travel |
