Anyone know if Polyhedron updated the old Chronomancer book for use in 3E/3.5 Ed? I can't figure out where this is, and I can't find my old Polys. (Oh, and if this is the wrong place, please direct me to the right place.)

Not exactly the same, but we do have a class that can warp time around its enemies (slowing them down), bending time around themselves (moving faster), glimpse the future, sense the past, send targets into the future (enemies *and* objects, which means you can send the door into the future, run through it, and it'll reappear, locks and traps intact, behind you), accelerate time (to grant extra actions), and, at very high levels, rewind time. It has a splatbook power that lets it loop time selectively (extending durations of effects past their limits). It can even warp space (floating, flying, telekinesis (sort of), teleports, and similar) should you so choose.

That class is even free in the SRD!

Which class?

The psion. Specifically, the nomad specialty.

Have fun.

Psionics advocation.

How ****** are you that Psionics is not going to be core in 4e, Tempest?

Well they weren't core in 3E either, were they? AFAIK Psionics will certainly be there in 4E.

Not at all, since they will be. Just not in the first PHB. They are confirmed for a later one, and 4e defines core as every PHB.

Similarly, according to ENWorld, druids, barbarians, monks, and sorcerers aren't in the first PHB either.

Meanwhile, if I want a psionic character in 4e (assuming I like the system, which I won't know until I see it) I'll just take a class with the right mechanics and reflavor it accordingly. Bruce Cordell has been doing the same thing in playtesting groups using a wizard.

Now, mind if I ask you what your comment did to further answer Pschulz' question?

Yes, and indeed psionics exist in my campaign. But I have also built a chronomancer prestige class for wizards/sorcerers/bards, but it's kind of clunky. And not everyone wants to play a psion.

I gathered that they were going to be releasing the Psionics rulebook much later than the PHB/DMG/MM, and I did not know that they were redefining core to include post-initial release sources. Good to know.

That's their best guess, anyway.

True enough. You've been such an assiduous advocate of Psionics as its own separate entity that I didn't know that you approved of simply reflavoring non-psionic classes as psionic.

Now, mind if I ask you what your comment did to further answer Pschulz' question?

Not at all. It didn't, because your answer was the best one he was going to get. The closest thing to a Chronomancer in 3e is a Nomad. Thus, the thread's purpose was served, and I was curious about your thoughts on 4e Psionics not being core, as I thought it would not be at the time of the query.

Let me apologize for my tone. I was involved in a heated argument elsewhere and it carried over here. Sorry.

We don't have a date, but it's likely to be out in the PHB2, given its momentum. That's roughly a year later.

Monk and sorcerer confirmed by Wizards, at least.

Well, it's a stopgap. The main reason I advocate for psionics is that it's simply a better ruleset. Since the rules are being changed in 4e, I can't make that argument.

And I've argued for reflavoring at least as passionately as psionics, although usually to fit psionics into the game. So why not go the other way in the absence of 4e psionics mechanics?

Oh, it's alright. I've seen your posts enough times to know that you didn't mean anything by it.

Thanks for the apology.

So there's no definite timetable on psionics in 4e? That's what I thought.

Yep.

Ah, so it's the crunch of 3e psionics vs. 3e magic that you like, not just the fluff. 4e should have similar crunch for both, as they are both simply going to be a type of "power". Don't really know how they'll be different yet, of course; it should be interesting to see.

And I've argued for reflavoring at least as passionately as psionics, although usually to fit psionics into the game. So why not go the other way in the absence of 4e psionics mechanics?

Yeah, I'm a big reflavoring proponent too. It opens up whole new worlds of creative character creation.
