| EvilVegan01-22-06, 05:48 PM | Am I right in noting that you can enter Church Inquisitor at 4th level? Not after 4th level, but at 4th level? It has 3 skills with 4 rank requirements, a second level spell requirement, a +3 save requirement and a RP requirement. . . ? |
| Esponer01-22-06, 07:03 PM | Yep. Should be possible to enter it at third level, I'd imagine. |
| EvilCouch01-22-06, 07:20 PM | yes, although, he's specifically built for a relatively tight path. a church inquistor wouldn't make sense for a series of dungeon crawls, unless the goal of it was to get ancient texts that show how their church has been perverted or something similar. I think the reason why it's allowed at such a low level is because joining the prestige class is pretty much a short campaign in and of itself, proceding along with it, could be a continuation of it or another, related campaign. In short, it's easy to get, because it's only going to make sense if the campaign is headed that way. And if you're headed that way, you might as well have the appropriate character. |

Should be possible to enter it at third level, I'd imagine.what evil trick will you use to make a divine spellcaster obtain second level spells at level 2? actually, I do find the requirements weird. a divine caster meeting the zone of truth requirement must have surpassed the other requirements by then... |

Its a full caster class, so its got just as much use in a dungeon crawl as any cleric 20, plus I'm immune to a lot of stuff, and I can make shapechangers revert to normal which helps against lots of enemies, and also makes me able to dispel baleful polymorph pretty easily. . . a bonus domain . . . +4 to all dispel checks. . . 4 skill points per level! So no, it doesn't make much sense that its easier to get into. It is more versatile than a cleric and gives up nothing. No feat requirement, skill requirements you're going to meet regardless, spell requirements you meet at 3rd level, and a save requirement you meet at 2nd level. . . The only restriction is alignment. . . and when was lawful good/neutral a bad addition to a party? |

I didn't say he didn't have use in a dungeon crawl, but that there was no valid roleplaying reason for him to be there. The Church Inquistor class is specifically designed to purge evil and corruption from his own church. The typical D&D party is not going to help him meet those needs and will disintegrate. This class requires a campaign built around it and this campaign will likely run into things that specifically run into his class abilities. This class does not become more powerful than a cleric, because it has to exist in a campaign setting where the class abilities are required just to progress. The class is a roleplaying aid. |

Yes, but it is a broken roleplaying aid. And thats why I'm playing it. . . At the very least it should meet the near universal "no PrC before 5th level rule". . . I'd even go so far as to have a specific domain requirement and probably several ranks in sense motive. . . 4 ranks in sense motive and law, protection, or knowledge domain requirements would help, and maybe a crappy feat like iron will. |
