| farfairer06-28-05, 02:26 AM | I don't know if this has been asked befor, if it has I'm sorry. I am playing an Argent Savant with Item Crafting feats. The PRC grants me three abilities that augment my spell casting: Force Specialization: An argent savant gains a +2 competence bonus on attack rolls made with her force spells. She also adds a +1 bonus to each die of damage dealt by spells she casts with the force descriptor. If the force spell doesn't deal damage expressed by dice, she adds only a +1 bonus to the total damage dealt. For Example, a magic missle cast by a 9th-levle wizard/1st-level argent savant deals 1d4+2 points of damage per missle. A 9th-level wizard/4th-level argent savant deals 4d6+7 points of force damage with with her Mordenkainen's Sword spell. Force Armor (Ex): At second level and higher, an argent savant gains more benefit from defensive force spells than other characters. If she casts a force spell that provides an armor bonus or a shield bonus to Armor Class, she increases the spell's normal armor bonus by +2. For example, mage armor normally adds an armor bonus of +4 to the caster's AC, but an arget savant with this ability who casts mage armor adds an armor bonus of +6 to her AC. Enduring Force (Ex): Force spells cast by an arget savant of 3rd level or higher linger longer than nomal, and they are more difficult to dispel. The durration of a force spell cast by the savant is doubled, as if the Extend Spell feat had been applied to it. However, the spell's levle and casting time are unchanged. The same restrictions that apply to extended spells apply to the spells affected by enduring force. In addition, the DC required to counter or dispel the argent savant's force spells increases by 4. My question is: if I make a magic item using a Force Descriptor spell, do any (or all) of these abilities automaticly apply to the magic item? Example: I make a wand of magic missle. Does it deal 1d4+1 damage per missle or 1d4+2 damage per missle? I make a scroll of Mage Armor does it provide +4 AC or +6? What is the durration of the mage armor cast from the scroll? If the abilities don't take effect automaticly, can I choose to place them in the item? Does it cost anyting extra? Does it matter what type of item I am making? Does this work differently for the craft contingent spell feat? |

| Zsasz_Diedne06-28-05, 12:17 PM | No, there isn't, there isn't anything in there that specifically allows for it either. Metamagicking a scroll is already factored into the cost of making it, there is no cost chart for adding "class features." Beyond that, I'd be inclined to say he could add his abilities to any spell-trigger/activation item he himself is using (nevermind that to do the same with feats, our basis, he'd need another class feature-metamagic spell trigger). He would not however, be able to hand someone a wand, staff or scroll that would allow them to benefit from his class feature. My 2 from a DM's perspective, ultimately it's up to his. |
| farfairer06-28-05, 04:57 PM | I understand if it doesn't work automaticly. But is there a way for me to choose to do use my class features when makeing items? And I have craft contingent spell (page 139, CA). Do my class features effect the use of this feat? I know my class features effect the spells I cast when I use Contigency (the spell) on myself. |
