Class and Racial SR do not stack--right? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-12-04, 02:45 AM Friend of mine is playing a deep gnome monk, and believes that the SR from both stack with each other. I know they do not, but can't find the actual ruling. If someone could please point out where it's at for me, it'd be great. I know its there somewhere.

06-12-04, 01:49 PM As Jaerom noted, it's rare for Spell Resistance from two different sources to stack. However, unless your Dungeon Master has some odd house rules, Monks do not receive Spell Resistance at any level.

However, there's a prestige class from Masters of the Wild called the Forsaker. This is someone who has given up on magic entirely, to the point that they won't even take healing potions or healing magic. They actively attempt to destroy magic, and if they can't destroy at least one magic item per day, then they lose the benefits of their prestige class until they can do so again. This prestige class provides Spell Resistance that does stack with any and all other sources of SR. Your best bet if you wanted to min/max the hell out of this is to be a drow Forsaker. At 20th level, you're going to have a pretty impressive Spell Resistance that can be pretty hard to overcome. But you're going to have gotten there without having a single magic item to your name. It's kinda like a more militant "Vow of Poverty". :D

"Diamond Sould (Ex): At 13th level, a monk gains spell resistance equal to her current monk level +10. In order to affect the monk with a spell, a spellcaster must get a result on a caster level check (1d20 + caster elvel; see Spell Resistance p. 177) that equals or exceeds the monks spell resistance."

Pull you head out of your ass and read the rules yourself before you post.

06-12-04, 02:23 PM All types of SR do not stack at all. You take the larger of the two. No items, spell-like abilties, racial abilities etc that provide SR do not stack.
