| Exooki06-29-06, 10:35 PM | i know a while ago i posted some stuff like this but that plan fell apart and i am just going to start over. i would like help with my class anyone who can offer any suggestions or critcism is fine, please do. alignment -evil hit die- is planned d6 weapon and armor -simple weapons and light armor only. The class is a master of negative energy. they can rebuke undead as an evil cleric and cast all spells with evil or necromancy descriptions. They trap creatures souls into gems in which later they can use the soul for bonuses on either attack rolls and damage or temporary hit points and save bonuses. their attack is a ball of nagative energy that is rather weak. its damage increases as they grow in strenth. some of their abilities include increased soul trapping abilities, a vortex like negative energy attack that deals area of effect damge. at higher levels use of customized finger of death. A life draining aura that deals damage to all enemies that strike in melee damage and damage all enamies within 5 feet away. this aura can be turned off. possible undead options not sure on those though. all suggestions/criticism are welcome. thank you in advance i hope to have more luck than last time (very few people posted in my last one) |
| Lucan_Desmond06-30-06, 02:12 AM | Um it sounds like a pretty cool idea for a class. My biggest suggestion to you, however, is that if you want people to even bother with your thread, please for the love of god, clean up your grammer, spelling, punctuation, and format. People won't pay much attention to a thread that hurts their eyes when they look at it. That said, it sounds like you just want a specialist cleric. I don't have any of my books in front of me at the moment, but the only spell I can think of that traps a soul is Binding. It's a level 8 arcane spell, so it would be pretty hard to justify making this a class ability any lower than level 15. I'm not really sure. And I'm tired. Maybe I should try again when I'm well rested. Des |
| Exooki06-30-06, 10:29 PM | sorry about that post before i was in a big rush. soul binding isnt arcane or divine. at least not anymore. incarnum which is the power of souls has neocarnum which can accomplish this. using incarnum twisted by the evils of negative energy i can trap their souls in a corrupted gem. my plan for this is that the gem must be at least = to the creatures CR X10 in gold peices. while a specialist cleric isnt a bad idea but the required deity would be nerull with no exceptions. This class drives for personal power above all else. however they are loyal companions to thiose close enough to them as they realize that power is weakened if alone. they desire to gain them and their party much power. wealh is also important to them as they realize that it can easily help to bribe the corrupted. i would like to no if ther attack is overpowered? it doesnt require a actual physical weapon and is a touch attack. i tried to balance this by providing it with very low damage. |
| Artector06-30-06, 10:36 PM | Without actual stats its hard to judge balance. I'd suggest making progressions for it with descriptions of abilities. What I get out of your idea is a combo of a Warlock and Incarnum, with a hint of Morrowind. |
| Rerecros07-01-06, 12:20 AM | Start off with a wizard, replace familiar with rebuke undead, replace school specialization with spontaneous inflict spells, add alignment restriction any non-good, add light armor proficiency, replace decipher script with heal (knowledge of anatomy, rather than knowledge of musty tombs), loose knowledge Architecture and engineering, Dungeoneering, Geography, History, Local and Nobility. You should cast divinely (wisdom based), using the plane of negative energy or an obsession with undeath as your source of power, with a fetish (shrunken head, severed hand, picled organ, ect...) as your divine focus. don't bother making those special attack you mentioned as class features, just make them as spells. Use only necromancy spells (forget the evil ones), except for 0th and 9th levels, as your list of cantrips and 9th level spells will be a little skimpy. This is only an outline, I have no idea if this is going to be balanced. |
| thasis07-01-06, 12:53 AM | A PRC for my Soul Hunter class is currently in the books that has the power to actualy trap and abuse souls... it'll be great... very great. I'll send a link your way when I'm done if your still intressted. |
| Exooki07-01-06, 07:10 PM | a wizard cannot trap souls jsut using binding. to absorb them he needs neocarnum. his attack is very weak. the vortex iof negative energy hits all opponensts within 30 feet for 3X normal attack damage(example at level 3 3d4). his attack is 1d4 until level 4 where it becomes 1d6. at level 8 id8 12 id10, 16 id12 and at level 20 it is 2d8(or maybe id20 sounds wild but jsut wait a minute). to keep this balanced even wiht low damage he can never make mroe than one attack per round. his Bab is planned to be only norm hit die 1d6. he has a small selection of soulmelds and chakra binds as well as a moderate essentia pool. his soulmelds are restricted to evil only. as for the spells he will have a very low amount per day even at higher levels necromancy only(maybe evil still unsure) i am working no the whole table i will present it once i am completed the first draft. thank you any ideas for abilities other than those listed before would be helpful. |
