| Greymalken07-28-07, 07:21 AM | Perhaps someone can help me answer this question about class feature overlap. I understand that abilities like bardic song, backstab, bardic knowledge, caster level, and the like are stackable abilities. But what if a character gets a feat from two classes? For example a wizard/archivist multi-class gets scribe scroll with both classes, and in Eberron the same would hold true for an artificer/wizard. In forgotten realms a cleric/wizard taking the rune domain would run into similar problems. Those are just a few examples that I can quote off the top of my head since scribe scroll is one of those feats that seems to be given to more than one class. I'm certain there are other examples I just haven't named here. So the question is what happens? Does the character get a bonus feat due to the overlap or do they simply lose out on one of the class features? I'd appreciate some assistance in answering the question and if it's being quoted from a book page numbers are appreciated. :D |

| JadeSpider964307-28-07, 02:21 PM | SOME classes (typicaly more PRCs) that grant a bonus feat state something like 'the character gains feat X, if he already has feat X, he may select a different feat for which he qualifies'. If the class your looking at does not say this, you don't get it. But do take note, while you may get the same ability twice, it may bet Supernatural for one and Extraordinary for another, so you're covered in a antimagic field. or if you should lose your abilities from one class for some reason. Like the monk/rogue with 2 evasions, if he wears light armor he loses the monk evasion but keeps the rogue evasion....why he's wearing armor? I dunno. |
| Meyer_William07-28-07, 03:30 PM | Additionally, there are starting to be lots of class variants ... Like in the case of monk/rogue ... turn one of the 2 evasions in for the Complete Mage bounce-a-spell ability ... |

Monks no lnger lose much from wearing armor. They lose Wis to AC, Flurry, and a few other thingds like slow fall I think, but they keep Evasion in Light armor. 3.5 Monk allows armor for some things. |
| JadeSpider964307-28-07, 06:11 PM | Nope, I don't play 3.0, but I also don't play monks, so i guess i missed that part. always good to be corrected when you're wrong :) |
