I don't think he has the stats yet.

Looking at it: Gnomes have bard as a favored class in 3.5 and illusionist (a wizard specialist) in 3.0.

I like bards, though it might get me lynched, and I know that if the party is big enough a bard can be a great asset. Don't, however, play one if your party is four or less people (unless you're powergaming, templating, gestaulting, rolling at a high level or shooting for a prestige class).

Assuming you're just using the PHB classes, rogue is a good option. You can get good damage with it and all that, pluss skills and other funness. Ranger is great if you're really in it for the Role-Playing part of it (same with Paladin), but from a numbers standpoint it's not your best bet. Fighter and Barb would be fun/interesting and sorcerer would be...another sorcerer.

IMHO your best bet is to roll up a rogue or cleric. Both are increadibly useful no matter what your size. Other than that, I play fighters and ragners a lot, and illusionist is always an option.

Umm....I'm sure every one of those ideas will be shot down. :D

One word, Sorceror. Yeah i know it's stereotypical but it works

Or if you have the expanded psionics manual you could be a Soulknife, they mentally make a knife of psionic matter with but a thought. They can throw it and add psionic affects.
Just think, a band of orcs corners a seemingly helpless gnome out of nowhere a neon-green blade burts from his fist and plunges it in to an orc's chest.
They are kind of like the jedi.

Powerwise? Druid. All the way.

I like gnome Barbarians. I'm sorry, but the idea of a critter less than three feat tall who goes into a screaming blood rage and rips a coupla orcs' heads off is just really funny to me.

Gnomes are made to be rogues. Not ability-wise per se, but RP-wise. Sneaky tricky little guy who likes making explosives/machines to make his life easier.

Sorcs are kinda typical, but powerful. Druid also very powerful. I like the idea of a gnome ranger, especially multiclassed w/ rogue.

If you use splatbooks, the Spellthief (CAdv) is an awesome class for a gnome.

Gnome Illusionist using the substitution levels in Races of Stone. It is what a gnome was meant to be. Once you qualify for Shadowcraft Mage (RoS) take it.

Don't have RoS, take sorcerer. Don't forget to be the life of the party! :D

Psion, sorcerer, shugenja, spirit shaman, cleric, scout, rogue, archivist, favoured soul woud all be good since they all have abilities that dont depend to much on strength (Augmented Sledge power to enemies family jewels was funny) and the constitution bonus helps with any class.
