Starting level is 10, no ecl's allowed. So far I have two ideas :

1. Human Samurai 6/Kensai 4
Good weapon options, also good intimidate abilities like staredown. Good for dominating others through force of arms. Very good for combat situations.
OR
2. Changeling Warlock 6/ Cabinet Trickster 4
Good spying ability, useful invocations for various nefarious purposes. Next level of Cabinet trickster allows constant dectect thoughts. Probably follow up with a level or two of assassin and/or continue with Warlock.

Anyone have any suggestions or their own ideas for a character in an evil campaign?

I like the 2nd build better. Changelings are fun playing and Warlock is a good class.

I wouldn't go with the Samurai -at least with the one presented in CW- due to limitations based on the weapons he uses.

Lemme a k ya... Where is Cabinet Trickster from?

The Cabinet Trickster is from Races of Eberron

What would be the benefit of the scout/assassin combination over the classic rogue/assassin or over warlock/assassin?

That's rough that you can't have at least LA:+1.

If you can convince your DM to let you have at least LA:+1, my Dhampir race is in need of playtesting. :D

Dhampir(LA+1), Hexblade(Psychic Warrior) 3/ Ranger 3/ SwashBuckler(Warlock) 3 ;)

Humans, Changlings, Warforged... they all work well.

Elan, Psychic Warrior 6/Ranger 2/Slayer 2 :P

Depends on the type of campaign being run. If you are going to be in the city all the time the classics are the best way to go, but if there will be things outside of the normal realms of civilization the Scout's abilities become invaluable.

For the record I also prefer your second build choice with the Changeling warlock/cabinet trickster.....that could be a very fun one to play out.

Finally, I've always liked the flavour of the Hexblade alot for an evil campaign but I don't know what may make a good build.....Maybe Hexblade going into Occult Slayer would be interesting.

personally, i recommend psion(telepath), with probably some thrallherd thrown in, but that's just me ;)

it all depends on what you want to play.

So you can run away more easily if the whole death attack thing doesn't pan out. :)

I'll just say this; a Bard or Enchanter with no moral restrictions is a scary, scary thing.

A truly, horrifically/creepily evil character would really need a base class of its own. But, since I haven't gotten around to that yet...

Races: Changeling, Drow, Human, Kenku, Lich, Tiefling
Classes: Hexblade, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock
PrCs: Acolyte of the Skin, Alienist, Assassin, Blackguard, Cabinet Trickster, Diabolist (and other PrCs from BoVD whose names slip my mind at the moment), Fiend of [Corruption/Possession/etc.], Fleshmolder, Monster Cultist (I think that's the name; it was in an article of Dragon), Pale Master, True Necromancer

I'll post a couple full builds later.

Half-Elf 6 Psion/4 Mindthrall

Mindthralls are probally the most evil classes I know (well atleast to a DM :D ). They have what you call forced leadership. People come to him and are forced to serve him. Totally insane fun.

Why I chose Half-Elf? Well there jus cool. :P

thrallherd. it's thrallherd you are thinking of i think. it may, however, have been mindthrall in 3.0, not sure of that... not even sure if it was there in 3.0 actually. didn't like 3.0 psionics enough to ever bother looking =P

The Champion can be evil or good, if evil Dark Champions. "While rare, it is possible for villains to take on the role of vessel to an evil avatar. Simply change all references to Good to Evil, or Evil to Good"

It might be a fun class to try out.

Not the most powerful choice, but in honour of Revenge of the Sith:

Ex-Paladin 9/Blackguard 1
Rulebook

06-08-05, 03:31 AM
Rogue3/hexblade3/Assassin1/Shadowlord3 (from Unnaprochable East)

i dunno... I like it, and you get Mette + Evasion.

Hexblade 8/Warlock 2. Not so powerful, but cool.
