Barbarian all the way into a full Freinzied Berserker.

He soaked up damage, and went ****ing nuts alot. Total Berserker Class.

He was also a mild idiot. Sound about right.

I suggest investing in Big Eyes Small Mouth d20. Seriously, you can make just about any anime or video game character you can think of with BESM d20, with a minimum of fuss in adapting character concepts or changing rules. It's all there.

I might consider giving him a few outsider HD(houseruled), since I would probably apply the feral template rather than the half-fiend template. Then a mesh of fighter and barb class lvs perhaps?:P

Warblade or Swordsage.

He's a barbarian with a custom race and a Weapon of Legacy. Probably with that PrC from weapons of legacy.

Mhm. I figured that too, well that and FB.

I liked FB because Inuyasha was a complete IDIOT when it came ot battle, and only listened to the other warriors in his group AFTER he'd gotten his ass kicked for awhile.

Sounds alot like someone using a Diplomacy check to shake a FB out of a Frenzy and yell "DO THIS YOU DUMBASS."

Hm... if you go that route, one of Tetsaiga's abilties should obviously be to get rid of the "turn on your allies" part of his Frenzy.

Hell, that's a good idea, especally going the Legacy Route.

After all, the Tetsagia was related to him and his kind; perhaps his FB frenzy is explained In-Game like Inuyasha's freak-outs from tiem to time, and the Tetsagia handles it.

Yep. Good call Ham.

He's not an FB because he at least knew when to pick his battles and would break from battle when needed.

Also, he didn't embody any of the other broken class freatures of the FB other than recklessness, which can be shown through roleplaying.

His full demon mode is more of a curse than a class feature. Akin to lycanthropy.

I wouldn't define that as recklessness as much as sheer lack of anythign resemlbing tactics, until his ass was being pounded.

So, not recklessness, stupidity.

Being Reckless is having a lack of regard for one's self in this context, not activly ignoring OBVIOUS good advice.

Inuyasha is a Barbarian with a unique half-dogdemon template, including things like turning into a full demon or a human at various times. The whole frenzied berserker thing is really superfluous. It kind of reminds me of things like Katana threads where people say that what's there just can't be good enough. "Clearly, Inuyasha's rages are way greater than that! It's gotta be frenzied berserker!"

Rage and just plain personality type is really enough to explain anything he does in the shows, including being talked out of doing stupid things and whatever.

The Tetsusaiga is clearly a weapon of legacy.

He is most definitely *NOT* a samurai.

Its still not the sole provence of the FB (which requires the DM to be dumb and allow it), its still roleplaying.

Yes, but the FB's negitives make it much easier for a player to stick with it ICly.

And the FB doesn't require the DM to be an idiot to work; else there wouldn't be so much use of it. It's crazy; but it ain't no Large Spiked Chain.

Seconded. It's a sad day when someone can't roleplay having foolish pride, being hardheaded and headstrong, or being enraged without being a frenzied berserker.

Ether waty we agree he's a Barbarian at the least; though I do agree the FUll-Demon shifts and occasionall FUll-Human times he expereinces are more of a Lycanthropic trasnformation equvilent, then a class ability.

Hey, you could actually just juggle around the Werewolf template a bit to get his race with some tailoring;

Make the Hybrid Form's stats his normal, day to day stats; make the Dire Form's stats, his full demon's stats:

And for the usual Full-Moon transformation's stats, make it that of the Werewolf's human form.

Tweak the actual numbers a bit and I can see it as a good start.

Warblade seems like an accurate class, especially since that seems to be where his abilities are.

He's on wise but he's not totallly barbarian stupid. probbally a warblade with tiger claw manuevers, and a legacy weapon of course. his demon is were -like.
as far a rage you cold readjust the class features of a warblade, possibley lossing all the bonus feats

As a side note, as a little flight of fancy a friend of mine created Tetsaiga as a legacy weapon, the problem is scaling the powers correctly because every time the weapon gains new powers we have to re-write the whole damn progression with comparisons.

Barbarian/legacy champion, or barbarian/battle scion, depending on whether you use WoL or Unearthed Arcana. Possibly only barbarian, if we consider Tessaiga to be an artifact, but the progression of abilities would fit a scion or legacy better. I would have suggested a short dip in ranger, but remembering him and Kagome's cat he's so bad at animal empathy that I reconsidered :D

The point is that FB can provide all his super-strength and the like without having to go messing around with Templates and stuff.

To do it properly, I'd use BESM and throw in an Alternate Form with appropriate Drawbacks and then use Special Attacks to get Tetsaiga.

But just using DnD FB with a weapon of Legacy can handle the entire mechanical side of the character far more simply and efficiently than having to come up with templates, were-transformation, and whatever else.

There are feats, and abilities, that can make a character strong enough even without the FB rage. It boils down to which ones you prefer: FB is about as core as legacies are. However, if you want a prestige class, there is one that may fit him even better; the Primeval from Frostburn. Heck, it's basically built towards a warrior who gets more and more animalistic strength, and it even has something like an alternate form.

Although I do like the feral template for Inu :P ... Feral Chibi :D (anyone following the Drow Tales comic should get this).

Sword Sage in ToB:9swords seems to fit Inuyasha. Light Armor, supernatural senses. Quick on their feet.

Inuyasha is totally a SCOUT. He skirmishes in combat, constantly running and jumping to deal extra damage and being hard to hit. He clearly has both Evasion and Uncanny Dodge, and he also survives in the wilderness and can move very quickly.

Actually that sounds more like tiger claw and white raven abilities.

Well, basically it looks like that there are several possible takes on the subject :) . I don't know the swordsage class (although sage is one thing Inu-kid isn't), and he's a bit strange as a scout (I think he is a warrior type of some sorts), but a class is basic mechanics; they can always be adapted with feats or templates and roleplayed in a very different manner than the standard archetype.

Well the Swordsage is basically Light armored, Fast Moving, Fighter.

Inu has poor AC, He's ALWAYS getting hit yet he slugs through it. I think Inu favors the Stone Dragon and Tiger Claw Disciplines. Weapon Focus (Great Sword) he also has Scent, and several other manuvers which makes him idea for the Swordsage. He also has at least 1 level in Barbarian, and has 10 levels into Frenzy Beserker. He doesn't die, and his Sword negates the negitive side effects of Frenzy as long he has hold of it. Imo it fits Inu well.

Stats:
Str: High
Con: High
Dex: Med
Int: Low
Wis: Low
Cha: Med

He's Arrogant, yet he has friends. He has great amount of Str, and Can take a beating. He does have a decent dex but he still gets out manuvered many times. He's not the brightest bulb, nor does he understand the finer things of life.

Swordsage/Monk gestalt with levels in both shadowsun ninja (for the extra abilities) and initiate of draconic mysteries (gives you neat abilities and you can deal slashing damage with your unarmed attacks)
However, it does seem that Inuyasha has generaly low CHA and INT (he acts like an ass half the time...)

Hmm, if you can convince me he's lawful (to be a monk), or has ever been, I have a cookie for you. With a feral template he should have slashing damage on his unarmed attacks anyway. I'm a little unsure about the whole FB thing, for reasons people already mentioned, but it could work.

Manyfist, low int is pretty much a given (natural or because of template), but I'd give him a little higher wisdom - or maybe swap it with charisma.

When he is in human form: he is totally honest and lawful. He hides his true feelings with the chaotic nature in his 1/2 demon form.

So says the human side.

He does have good wisdom.

here's something i found

Hanyou

Hanyou have the following racial traits:
*+4 Str. Their Youkai heritage makes hanyou exceptionally strong.
*+2 Dex. Their youkai heritage also makes Hanyou very agile.
*-2 Wis. The youkai blood clouds the minds of Hanyou.
*-4 Cha. Because of their youkai heritage, most people hate and often try and kill Hanyou. This prejudice, combined with the isolation it imposes upon them, make them very bad at social interaction.

*All Hanyou have extremly sharp senses, and have Scent and receive a +2 Racial bonus on Spot, Search, and Listen checks.

*Hanyou recover much faster than normal people. Hanyou regain 1 hp/level+con modifier every hour.

*Claws: All Hanyou deal base 1d6 when fighting unarmed. For Monks and any other class with higher than normal Unarmed damage, the hanyou will always deal one category higher than his level indicates.

*Human Form: Once per once, at a phase of the moon chosen by the player at creation, the hanyou becomes fully human. He loses the +4 Str, +2 Dex bonuses, and loses his sharp senses [Bonus of Spot, Listen, Search, and Scent feat]. He loses his claw damage. He also gains a +4 Cha bonus as long as he is in human form, because his youkai heritage is not apparent. He also gains a +2 Wisdom bonus because his demonic blood is no longer clouding his mind. This lasts from nightfall till sunrise.

*Youkai Form: When a Hanyou with 10 HD or more life is seriously threatned [DM's determinte], his Youkai blood takes full control. He gains a massive +10 to Str, Dex and Con. He instantly regains full HP, including the addtional HP from his Con modifier. His Int, Wis, and Cha are reduced by (2*number of times transformed)[Special note: This doesn't affect his Will save, but otherwise full effects apply]. His unarmed attack now deals 1d20 [if he has Improved Unarmed Strike or is a Monk, 2d20]. The first time this transformation happens, the hanyou will mostly rememeber himself, and can control his actions. But as his Int, Wis and Cha drop with each successive transformation, he becomes more of a mindless killing machine. A strong shock or knocking the Hanyou unconcious can bring him back into normal state.

I think it's because by then he trusts the company enough to be open with them. It's not as if his whole mindset changes so much... just that he's imo quite surprised that they stick with him and help him.

Besides, being unable to do pretty much anything makes anyone eat the humble pie ;)
