hiddenfeelings 02-25-06, 09:34 AM	Hey there friends , i am currently relatively new to dungeons and dragons and i am also new to this forums. i have a few questions i would like to ask of the classes.. -cleric -ranger i am currently playing a lvl 10 campaign which might end at about lvl 14-15 and it is a war cleric.. well.. str/con/and a buncha wisdom fer bonus spells. i would like to have some suggestions on how to kill the following classes: fighter , monk and druid.. ( both fighter and monk is lvl 10 except the druid which is 8 ) suggestions on sequence of buffs.. who i should atk first and what not.. the fighter has jumped into the prestige class of dwarven defender and the monk has jumped into the prestige class of drunken master. and the next campaign is a new one.. which is starting at lvl 1.. i have decided to start off as a ranger and maybe head into ranged fighting. could i have some suggestions on stats (32 buy) feats/skills and race? maybe some suggestions on how i should play it? the allignment of the character is yet to be decided.. i might wish to be a team killer.. i have yet to decide.. hehe much appreciated:) thanks
Ruhl-Than Sage 02-25-06, 10:05 AM	I wouldn't recommend multi-classing Ranger and Cleric with a low Dexterity score. Many of the Ranger abilities require you to wear light armor. If you do, go for the Mithril Shirt and get it enchanted as soon as you can. If you are going to have a really high wisdom, but not so high a dex, I would take the feat Zen Archery (Complete Warrior) so that you can add your Wisdom bonus to ranged attack rather than your dex bonus. Ranger/Clerics have great saves, so you should be good on that avenue, but your reflex will be the lowest. You might want to spend a feat on Lightning Reflexes if you have an extra one (but you probably won't). Starting as a ranger is great for skill points. Make sure to spend some on Concentration (up to max rank), even though you won't need it until you go into cleric, you can avoid the need to take Combat Manifesting or Skill Focus (Concentration) by spending them now. I wouldn't recommend taking more than 3 levels in Ranger if you are going to multiclass. The animal companion you gain at level 4 will be too small to matter and the spell from ranger insignificant considing you will already be getting divine spells from Cleric. The only benefit you could really gain from your animal companion is if you take a bird and even then it would be as useful as a familiar would be because you cannot commincate with it very well and it would only have an intelligence of 2. As for buffing spells, all the stat buffers are excellent. In your particular case, Owl's Wisdom is going to be the best as it will increase the DC of your spells and your will saves, and with Zen Archery it will increase your attack rolls with your bow. Since the stat boost spells have a realtively long duration, you can cast them a little early if you know you'll be in combat soon. I would reccomend taking Practiced Caster as soon as possible, once you go into Cleric (especially if you take 3 levels in Ranger before you do). The extra caster levels will make a big difference in the potency of your spell casting especially at lower levels. Once you get 4th level spells Divine Might is where its at, just read the spell, you'll understand.
hiddenfeelings 02-25-06, 10:56 AM	sorry for the miscommunication , but i did not multi class ranger and cleric together.. they are pure classes i was just hoping that i could get suggestions fer the classes cause they are in different campaigns.. hehe :) but thanks fer the suggestion.. might want to try that out

Ruhl-Than Sage, I AM planning on playing a ranger-cleric multiclass character, and definitely going to be taking some of what you said into consideration...:) Silver.
