| oddman01-14-06, 04:12 PM | I'm looking for a fighter class that is a charasmatic leader. That is, I want full BAB, diplomacy, bluff and sense motive. Also, I don't want to be forced into a particular fighting style. Any suggestions? |
| Oliver D'Argent01-14-06, 05:42 PM | I'm not seeing anything in the books I have here that fits your requirements exactly. These are the only full BAB classes I've found that are even close: Swashbuckler (Complete Warrior): has Bluff, Diplomacy and Sense Motive; lightly armored, agile fighter using finessable weapons. Samurai (Complete Warrior): has Diplomacy and Sense Motive; can use heavy armor; focus on katana and wakazashi use; limited to Lawful alignments. Hexblade (Complete Warrior): has Bluff and Diplomacy; lightly armored fighter with limited arcane spellcasting ability at higher levels; limited to nongood alignments. Paladin (PHB): has Diplomacy and Sense Motive; can use heavy armor; not really limited in weapon use or fighting style, but other class skills and abilities tend to favor mounted combat; limited to Lawful Good alignment. Other people may well find other options, but those are all I have here. |

They have everything you want except the full BAB, but they have enough starting cash to offset that with a masterwork weapon. They even have proficiency with tower shields. They don't have a lot of other cool class features, though. |
| oddman01-14-06, 09:51 PM | Thanks D'argent, I have considered each of those already. I've eliminated them for various reasons. The Warrior generic class in Unearthed Arcana is pretty much exactly what I want, but my DM may not let me bring it into the game. Anyone else? |
| Rhomphaia01-14-06, 10:22 PM | Other than the suggestions above, all I can recommend is just being a fighter and taking Diplomacy and Sense Motive as cross class skills. If you really want to play such a base class, then Hexblade, Paladin, Samurai or Swashbuckler really are your best bets. |
| Shadowfax701-15-06, 01:31 AM | The Marshall class in the Miniature's Handbook has Bluff, Diplomacy and Sense Motive as class skills and fits the theme you are looking for. It even has bonuses to Diplomacy. It lacks a Full BAB, it has only a 3/4 BAB. This can be offset by feats such as, Weapon Focus, etc. |
| Cyphen01-15-06, 08:25 PM | And don't forget one of my personal favorite Prestige Classes... one the fits the description you give to the letter... The Purple Dragon Knight (Complete Warrior). It's a leader character, with charisma based abilities that all center around making it a great leader. |
